Sorry not to offer a solution, I just want to commune with you...I have an MG3550 Tthat does exactly the same thing.I have had years of issues with this make, I will buy HP in future. Not my first Canon tro do this ... I was forced to have it by the University I am studying with. HP HP HP HP HP.....YAY!
Seriously though, remove it from te power cable and usb. empty it of paper and have a little shake, some times something falls in and cons it into thinking that paper is out. I had a plastic item in mine. Resolved eventually but , when I next buy a printer / multifunction device, it will be HP.
Canon do not do much to help when Microsoft changes O/S s, I have 3 old canon scanners that did not get a driver upgrade when winddows changed versions. HP nearly always updates drivers and utilities for their devices.

GOOD LUCKNEX

I am printing exterior photos of a buildiing on regular paper for test only. The color is printing out with a green tinge. What is happening?

Not using genuine HP cartridges could be one reason. Low ink cartridges could cause not enough ink to be used to make a certain shade of gray or black and thus causing the green tinge. Also if you are selecting photo quality printing then you need to use photo paper. The printer drivers tell the printer different commands depending on what kind of paper you tell it you are using. Good luck!

Paper in correct turned printer on red light flashing and will not print paper is blank when it comes out.

Red light flashing, do printing, paper blank out : ink low message. Ink level low, near to ink out level. But it just program, may be ink tank is out actually (no ink at ink tank). Refiil ink tank or replace w new one. Check Nozzle.

Faxes come through blank

The machine USUALLY tells you you are low on ink. It 's possible one or all cartridges are dried up.

Paper Jam

there maybe some obstruction on the paper path, inspect visually any sign of abnormality in this area, replacing the ink would not cause this.

it is touching something thats why t is crooked, either small piece of paper, dirt, caked ink, or hardened ink on the roller, feeding unit may have some plate mis adjusted, misaligned feeeding tray as well. try this

Won't print

Try the following steps:

Check for and remove any grayscale settings. Use the following steps to check this setting.
  1. In the program, click File and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
  2. Select the correct product and then click Properties . The Properties dialog box opens.
  3. Click the Color tab.
  4. Check the Print in Grayscale setting. If necessary, unselect the setting.
  5. Click OK to save the settings.
If this doesnot work:

    1. Open the Printer Toolbox .
    2. Open HP Solution Center .
    3. Click Settings .
    4. Click Print Settings .
    5. Click Printer Toolbox .
Now Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab. This will tell u that the cartridge might be running out of ink even if the graphic shows that there is ink remaining in the cartridge.Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.
  • If this doesnot work:
  • If the Print in grayscale option is not the problem and the print cartridges are not low on ink, print and evaluate a self-test page to determine if the cartridges or printer is causing the problem.
    1. Load the input tray with unused plain white paper.
    2. Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Start Copy Color button.
    3. Release both buttons. The self-test page prints.
This will definitely work for u.
    Thank u.

Low ink and also, paper carriage problem

You should be able to go to Dell.com for a solution and they will probably tell you to uninstall your printer softwear and re-install it and see if that solves the prolem.
