When someone leaves a messageni am not given an indication

leave yourself another message to re activate the message tone. When you clear the new message it should reset the message wait tone

On most VTech phones the voicemail indicator turns on when someone leaves a message on the voicemail system offered by your phone company. The message light has 2 functions
1 voicemail message
2 to indicate someone has rung you (internally they then press the MESSAGE button on there phone)
To clear this Lift the handset and press the Message light - you must wait for an answer (there may be more than one call to clear
Failing this you can clear the local info on your phone -

Dial 790 or
Dial *790

just change the settings on your call forwarding settings, every model have it's own unique configuaration or setting, refer to the manuals

There is no History button that I know of ~ on the system...

But - the message waiting indicator is not working?
Ok, try this to fix the message waiting... leave a voicemail for yourself or get someone to leave a message. FEATURE 1 and your extension...

-> if the light is Not flashing try FEATURE #806 this shuts off static time and date, for some reason this can shut off the message waiting indicator.

Hi, This error indicates a carriage error
Check that the encoder strip ( the plastic strip that rungs behind the carriage ) is securely attached at both ends.If not, see if it has been broken, or if not just re-attach ih it onto the fixing lug

Don't know about other models, but I just called RCA small business phone support (800-511-3180) to find out how to clear the message light indicator on my 25210 2-line cordless phone when it continues to blink but there is no message.

All you have to do is hold down the delete button for a few seconds and it will clear. Hope this helps someone else from going batty!

If you also have voice mail through your phone service provider, it's possible that while you are on the phone, the incoming call is "waiting" (meaning you are hearing a beep while you are still talking assuming you have call waiting). If you don't pick up the incoming call, your caller will hear your "voice mail" message and leave a message. However, your answering machine will not indicate that you have a message.
