Missing "Date Taken" info.
What software are you using? If you are using the ViewNX 2 from Nikon (updated with the patches), it should have the correct date taken information in the EXIF data. However, if you are using the older ViewNX software, then the software can corrupt the EXIF information or merely fails to download it with the picture.
I'd suggest you first check if your software is up to date. Try here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61/session/L3RpbWUvMTQ2NTUzMDUwMy9zaWQvTHNYeVZGU20%3D for the current versions of various Nikon software.
Please add a comment with the software version that you are using for extra support. I hope this helps.

I am not familiar with the software you mentioned. I am not using any special software. When I connect the camera, Win7 recognizes it and let's me open a folder where I view, copy or delete the pictures. Please see the attachment I sent with the original question.
Unfortunately, I can't find your attachment on this Fixya question page. The Nikon ViewNX and the newer ViewNX 2 are free programs available to owners of Nikon CoolPix cameras. They can be downloaded from Nikon with the drivers for the camera. It can be set as the default software when you connect the camera.
Since you are using Windows Live Photo Gallery or Windows 7 Photo Viewer, then you are dealing with corrupted EXIF data. When these programs first download the pictures, it includes the EXIF data. Unfortunately, with both programs, the software doesn't preserve that data correctly. This happens most often during the auto-play and import routine if you use the auto-rotate option. (This is the Landscape/Portrait information. When this is applied, even the date on the photo information is changed.)
You might be better off using the Nikon software that is available for your camera. I use the ViewNX 2 regularly with a Nikon camera; it works well and has never lost the EXIF data. I hope this helps.
