The KX-TG1061 base phone stopped working after a close lightning strike. The handsets are fine. Can the mother unit be repaired?

Can it be repaired and if not will the two cordless handsets work with other model base units

Anything can be repaired :) But this does show that surge suppressors are needed for phones, too.

But in this instance the repair cost would probably be 50%+ of just finding a new base unit (even used) The only way to see if the handsets will work with a different Panasonic is trying to bind with it. Or, contact Panasonic technical support directly and see if the handsets are compatible with other base units. The DECT standard is supposed to be cross-platform compatible but only for the basic phone call functions. So in theory the handsets work with any DECT 6 base unit, like Bluetooth. But also like Bluetooth, there are no hard guarantees.

My GE Microwave JES1344SK is showing the code -F3- on the digital screen and it beep three times every 30 second, the microwave won't start and any of the fuctions is working I need some help on t

An F3 code means that the touch pad has a short. The touch pad needs to be replaced. If you purchased the microwave new, get your receipt and the unit serial number and contact GE for the repair (1-800-GE-CARES). See http://repair.geappliances.com/ to find a repair center near you. There is a one-year parts and labor warranty on this part. You will need to get the unit to the GE Repair center at your own expense. (I'm assuming that the unit wasn't shorted by a lightning strike or other disaster.)

I hope this helps.

My control panel will set for time other functions will work and and light and fan time will reset but will not turn. on noticed that the door sags and the upper prong that keeps it closed is broken off....

due to the fact that micowaves produce extreme amounts of high range rayons the units are constructed with several safety features one of the main ones being twin micro switches built into the door latching. when the door is open it sends a signal to the microwave to stop working so unless both latches are in place and strike the switches the unit will think the door is open and not respont to cook. you will have to have the door latch replaced parts are available form www.kenmore.com as well as ebay and as close as your local reapir shop.

best of luck

Will not heat baby food for 13 seconds

Depending on the amount of Joules your household/microwave received your low voltage control electronics may have been fried by the lightning strike. For your own safety I recommend a new microwave.

We had a lightning strike near our home and our Ewave OTR microwave quit, nothing works but the light inside and the vent fan comes on automatically. We've been told that there is a fuse that can be...

If the light and fan work then it cannot be the fuse. When the fuse "blows", it stops the electricity totally from flowing into the microwave and nothing will work or respond. The fuse is behind the control panel and this requires several hidden screws to be removed. Also, you must be very careful of the 2000 volt charge that is stored in the wiring further into the compartment behind the control panel. Therefore, do not attempt to open the micro control panel without proper service knowledge.
Because you say the light and fan operate, the fuse (as I stated ) is not your answer; most likely the problem is in the control panel circuit board. The circuit board is like any sensitive electronic component that goes crazy when there is a voltage surge that strikes it such as lighting throughout the house wiring. The board needs to be replaced unless you can have an electronic wizz-kid test is out and repair it , or just by a new board. By the way, the board is not cheap and may be difficult to locate since I understand the the manufacture stopped producing it.

Microwave caused lights to dim, then blew out a power strip

the noise you said sounds like the magnetron or h.v. capacitor or h.v. diode blew up,that could have created a voltage spike,as for the power strip fried, i would have someone check your neutral line in the house power panel, if it open or has a hi resistance spot it will in turn make your homes 120/240volt circuits a voltage divider because of a lack of the neutral wire and can cause problems too

We had a bad power surge during a storm last week which fried my Panasonic NN-T990saf. My question is it worth trying to get it repaired or should I just buy a new micro wave?

Although lightning damage is normally fatal to anything with electronics inside, you might remove the back panel and look for fuse holders. If you find one (minimum) or two (likely), replace them (if you have a cheap multimeter you can check for continuity) and see  if it will turn on. You may have to do a little telephone work to locate the high current fuse which is probably 30 amps.
If you live in an area of frequent lightning strikes, investing in a 'whole house' surge arrester makes sense. These are installed in the main breaker box and any brand I've seen comes with a $10-25,000 insurance policy to replace any dead appliances that fail despite the surge protector. They cost $150-250 US plus installation which you can save if you are afraid to DIY.

Microwave will not heat food

Dear Pam,

I am familiar with this problem...

It can be the drive belt for the microwave dispersing unit (fan), which is an quick, inexpensive repair... a burned wire, which is also a quick, inexpensive repair... or a chip on the circuit board that has blown, most likely due to a lightning strike or other power surge, not as quick and a little more expensive to repair...

My recommendation is to unplug the microwave, take the cover off after removing the cover screws with a screwdriver, and just be nosy... take a good look for something obvious like any of the above items...

Write back if I can be any further help...
