Hello Marc-Ryan Digesu,

You have given this some thought... Very impressive!!

It can be only three things (barring physical wiring damage):

YES... Highly likely it is the CONTROL BOARD

Looking into your model (but you MUST verify the DA41 00670 NUMBER yourself)...

(3 basic parts of your DEFROST CIRCUIT)
- heater(s)... very unlikely
- defrost thermostat... unlikely
- clock/timer or control board... most likely (easiest)

The first thing you want to do (after removing power)
BUT before REMOVING ANYTHING...
take LOTS of USEABLE pictures. You will need to put every wire & screw exactly back EXACTLY from where it came!!

Always ground your hands before touching any circuit board you VALUE (BETTER purchase an anti-static wrist band... below).

Look at the bottom of the board for any obvious solder issues...
Else.. order that spare board you always wanted (anyway).

Always get three estimates... (about $115)

Prices may vary but the parts are ALL THE SAME.

Hope this helps... I like refrigerators... feel free to comment me back if want to discuss...

(I have a spare board & door gaskets... because I plan on KEEPING my refrigerator (until that HOT PLACE freezes)).

Ge Gsh25jsxnss side x side fridge is not getting cold, took plate off & damper works fine, I don't see ne kind of fan, it goes straight 2 the freezer near the ice maker. freezer is cold & working fine

Evaporator fan motor has probably failed. p/n WR60X10185

It is located in the freezer section, behind the back panels inside, and under the icemaker. Remove the screws on the bottom panel in the freezer, remove the ice maker, auger motor, and panel. is is about center of the freezer.

Stop a Samsung refrigerator from beeping

Defrost Problem

Defrost problems can cause both sections not to work. You need to find out why it's not defrosting. There are three things that cause a defrost problem:defrost heater, defrost thermostat and defrost control.

If you have an older refrigerator, it probably has a mechanical defrost control. Find it and turn it clockwise until the refrigerator cuts off. (Note that the defrost control is normally located either in the refrigerator near the cold control or at bottom behind the kick plate). To view a video of testing a manual defrost timer. If your refrigerator is newer it will have an electronic defrost control and you won't be able to turn to defrost. Most refrigerators with electronic controls have some method of maunaly going into a defrost. You will need to refer to the tech sheet or service manual for this procedure on your model. Now that it's in defrost, wait a few minutes. If the defrost heater gets hot, replace defrost control. If it doesn't get hot, then the problem is either the heater or the thermostat.

At this point, you need to melt the ice. The best way to melt the ice is to use either a hair dryer or heat gun. Be careful with the heat gun you can melt your fridge pretty quick.

Once the ice is gone, you can check the heater by unplugging wires and using an ohmmeter to check for continuity. If you have continuity, the heater is good and you should replace thermostat. If you don't replace the heater, at this point you won't be able to check the thermostat but if the heater is good replace it.

Side by side refrigerator the refrigerator does not get cold but freeze works fine

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Refrigerator side doesn't keep things cold, just cool, despite having it on the coldest setting and the cold vent open between the freezer. The freezer is working fine.

Look on the back wall of the freezer for a ice buildup. If there is ice you have a defrost problem. The defrost timer is in the fresh food section inside the control panel. The defrost heater and defrost thermostat are behind the freezer back panel inside the freezer.
Also check the freezer fan. If there is no ice buildup in the freezer the freezer fan motor could be bad.

I have an american style fridge freezer from Samsung and it is buzzing when the fridge door is shut. I am guessing there is an ice build up around the fan but cant get the cover off easily. Any ideas...

i had a fan noise and the repair tech replaced the fan...turns out that the new fan was also making noise which lead me to look for other problems which lead to the fan problem

new fan was also buzzing in my freezer after some time...noticed ice build up towards the bottom right corner of the back panel (in freezer)....i diconnected power...took the back panel off .....fan had frost on it....coil was iced up.... then on the back of the refrigerator i accessed the control board....plugged the power back on ...i jumped the line to the heater...heater didnt work....then checked resistance through the heater (checked ok)....

it came down to me replacing the defrost thermostat which is in series with the heater....defrost now works fine ...which is every 60hrs for 45 minutes on mine.

good luck

We discovered that the refrigerator was not cool, but the freezer was working fine. We defrosted the refrig for 3 days & cleaned it. After that, the refrigerator part worked fine for about 6 weeks....

The timer is located in the control panel in the fresh food section. Get down on your knees and look up at the control panel. You will see a small hole with a slotted screw in it. Turn the screw clockwise slowly until the refrigerator stops running. This forces the defrost timer to send power to the defrost thermostat and heater. If they are good defrost will commence. You can remove the back panel from the freezer to view the evaporator coils and the thermostat and heater.
If the heater gets hot and begins melting ice, replace the defrost timer in the control panel. If not replace the defrost thermostat and heater in the freezer.

Ice maker not working freezer temperature at 31

The ice maker isn't working because the temp needs to be at least down to 10 degrees. The fridge side should also be warmer than normal. If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
If it's not a defrost problem make sure the fan in the freezer and behind the unit next to the comrpessor.

Take the back cover inside the freezer off and you can see the iced up coils. Use a hairdryer to melt the ice. Don't chip it off, you might puncture the coil.

Freezer side is fine. Fridge side says it is at

Samsung Refrigerators came with many different features. I need to be sure yours is the model RS2630SH If so I believe that defrost comes from the main control board on yours. You need to unplug and examine the freezer compartment behind the panel covering the evaporator. Looking over the wiring diagram the control comes from main board for the defrost element/heater to melt the ice on evaporator. If the evaporator is covered in ice you will need to defrost with a hair dryer and we will need to check the defrost heater with an ohm meter to make sure its OK first. If its OK then we need to visually look over the main control board for signs of heat or burn marks on both sides with power disconnected to the refrigerator. No defrost can cause this problem and the dampers from freezer if not opening properly will cause this. Let me know, Sea Breeze
