VoiceMail is not a function or feature of the VTech cordless
phones.
VoiceMail is an option offered by some (not all) telephone
service providers, and each of those who do offer the feature
employ specific procedures unique to themselves.
Check with your Telephone Service Provider to see if you
have or can get a VoiceMail service activated and how to
go about using it.
Per the CS6114 User Manual, the display indication
"New Voicemail" will be removed from the cordless phone
handset when you have accessed the providers' VoiceMail
system and played/cleared the messages.
If the alert display persists, it can be cleared from the handset
by the following (tested on my own cs6114 phone):
press [menu]
scroll to "Settings"
press [select]
scroll to "Clr voicemail"
press [select]
display reads "Reset VM Icon?"
press [select]
phone will (chirp) press [off ] [off ]
You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.
THis is usually because it thinks that there is something there, but the code path to 'clear it" doesn't follow the same logic path. Sometimes, adding a new message - i.e. dial your number from elsewhere, to create a real message waiting, and then clearing that, resets this.
You didn't specify the model of your Philips DECT 6.0 phone but if I had to guess I'd say you have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. Your phone does not have an internal answering machine/voicemail function. It only allows you to retrieve voicemail messages if you subscribe to voicemail service through your telephone service provider. Access and other features vary by telephone company and location, so you need to contact your phone company for specifics. The voicemail light on your phone lets you know if you have new messages on your phone company system. To disable this light if you do not subscribe to this service: - Press PROG - Use the up/down arrow keys to select CLR VOICEMAIL - Press SELECT. The screen displays CLEAR? and YES flashes. - Press SELECT to confirm. You will hear a confirmation tone.
