The TV shows its power up icon, shows a JVC icon and briefly shows a channel 3 status bar then goes gray (with backlighting on). I can not access the menu. The last time it worked it flashed a message to scan for channels.

On the verizon FIOS tv box, turn the FIOS STB on, and turn on the tv, tap the following buttons on the Verizon FIOS STB )in this order) 1-Power, then Select, then Menu. This will bring up the FIOS STB HD options. Arrow down to 4:3 Bypass and set the bypass option to 480P. Hit power 2 times, once to turn off, second time to turn STB back on. This should on standard channels give you the zoom feature back. This worked on my Samsunf 5053 TV model.
press the demo button on the front of the TV, when the screen changes to theater wide mode turn off the TV with the power switch on the front of the TV itself then back on with the same switch, the setting will be saved in memory. I have to do this with my TV every time the power goes out in my apartment.
