How to change password for external line access

Hi All, I have a phone system in my clinic (Norstar M7208 Phone and M7100 extensions) and would like to change the password used to access the external line.

When I want to dial to an external number, I dial Feature68, 111111 (actual password) and ''0'' - the problem is that all employees already learned that one... How do I set a new password to access that line?

Note I am *not* trying to change the 266344 (config, admin) password..

Thanks in advance,

Rod.

What could cause norstar m7208 phone to not receive incoming calls

If you have lines appearing on your phone and they don't ring you need to program lines to ring. This type of programming is done from a M7310 phone. Page 323 of this manual shows how to program this on a NorthStar MICS Ver 6 phone system.
http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/TELECOM-F-R/Nortel%20MICS%20System%20Installer%20Guide%206.1.pdf

Enter the programming mode : Feature **266344
Password:266344
You will have 4 programming buttons on your phone, normally the 2 top left and 2 top right of the 2 vertical rows.
top left = move up one level
lower left = back
top right = select
lower right = next
once you enter the programming mode press next to "Terminals and Sets"
press select
enter your extension number
press select
press next to "Line Access"
press select
press next to "Line Assignment"
press select
use the next key to go to the line you want and use the soft-key below the display to change it from "Appear" to "Appear and Ring"

Landline phone constant busy signal

should you dial 9 or another access code for outside calls?

If if you dial an "outside" number on an intercom line it will look at the first 2-3 digits as another extension. You need to dial the Central Office access code, or use a line key assigned to an outside line.

NorStar M7208 - How to remove global ringing?

This is tech side of programming and not Admin, if you don't know config password or how to program then call a tech.
If you do know then:
First find out what line #, do F*0 then press the button and note the full number on the display.
i.e. Line 5 in programming is Line 005, 025 or 031 depending on software version.

Sets/LineAccess/LineAssignment/Show line ***/Change to Appear Only or Not Assigned.

In programming mode, under System Programming, "Change DN". You must choose an unused number within the available range of extensions of your system.

Norstar M7208, it's direct line number is diverting to another ph

It could be a simple as the phone has call forwarding to another extension set up on it or the direct line could also be programmed on the other set. Does the screen on the non- ringing m7208 display "forward to:xxx" or does it display the current day and time?

Password Reset for Norstar M7208

ok,

First thing is the M7208 set has no soft buttons as you can tell; using the * button for YES and the # button for NO.

The line button is alittle more tricky, since you have to go into the programming of the system. What do you mean the LINE buttong may light up? Is this a telephone line? Or is this an extension line?

Do you have the programming template, it's a piece of paper that you lay over the key to tell you where the NEXT, BACK, ENTER keys are...
If you do not have the template here is a link...

If you have the line number that you want to ring on your set continue with the instructions:
-> FEATURE * * 2 6 6 3 4 4
-> password: 2 6 6 3 4 4 (this is default and might not let you in)
if that password does not work try 7 2 7 5 8 7
-> you will now see TERMINAL&SETS hit the ENTER
-> type in your extension number and ENTER
-> you will see LINE ACCESS hit enter
-> you will see LINE ASSIGNMENT hit ENTER
-> type in the line you want to ring on your phone EX:: 001
-> hit the CHANGE button till says APPR&RING
-> hit the NEXT button and RLS.

In my workplace, when you move the Nortel M7100 phone, the programmed info (extension number, etc) moves along, just like if I was rewiring all phones. Your phone may have another mailbox associated with it, like the general delivery mailbox which can be mail box 100, try logging into 100 with default password of 0000. I am assuming you have 3 digit extension, if 2 digit login into mailbox 10.
