Does your device show up as a separate device in windows explorer? If so you may drag and drop files directly onto it.

Alternatively you can download alternative free media players like winamp and rhapsody which do the same job as media player.

If your device does not show up in windows explorer then you may have a usb problem on your Samsung media player. This is most likely to be a hardware fault which I don't know a free/cheap solution to.

My Samsung YP-S2 Mp3 player can't be recognised by computers when I plug it in through the usb input (it used to work), therefore I'm not able to upload music on it anymore. How can I fix this bug?

Samsung Player Is No Longer Detected By Windows XP, Vista, Emodio Or
Samsung Media Studio.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When your computer doesn't recognize your Samsung MP3 player, programs
such as Samsung Media Studio (SMS), Emodio, Windows Media Player
(10 or 11) do not allow you to transfer files to your player.
In SMS and Emodio, the portable icon appears grayed out.
In Windows Media Player, you are prompted to connect a device.
Your PC may fail to recognize your player for a variety of reasons.
To begin troubleshooting, scroll down, and then click the operating
system your computer is currently running.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Operating System Information
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Windows computers, Samsung MP3 players require at least Windows XP
Service Pack 2. If you have an older operating system such as Windows
2000 or Windows 98, your computer won't recognize your player until you
upgrade your PC to at least Windows XP Service Pack 2.
If your PC is running Linux or MAC, it will not recognize some MP3
players that support only MTP mode. However, it will recognize players
that support UMS mode and list them as mass storage devices.
The following Samsung MP3 players support UMS: YP-U1, YP-U2, YP-U3,
YP-U4, YP-U5, and YP-S2.
The following Samsung MP3 players support both MTP and UMS mode: YP-Z5
and YP-P3.
Windows Vista may fail to detect you device if the player is not
connected properly, Windows Media Player is not installed or has become
corrupted, Vista is unable to install the MTP drivers, or the MTP patch
is not installed.
You can check it out further by going to this website and entering the information about your player

Samsung yp s3 doesnt work on xp

I have Windows XP and Media Player 10.

I had same problem with Samsung media studio not recognizing MP3 player. Here is how I fixed it. With the MP3 plugged in, I had to go into System/ Hardware/Device Manager and find the S3 driver under "Windows portable Media" and uninstall it. Then unplug and replug the S3 into the usb so that driver gets reinstalled.

Then I decided windows media player and samsung media studio are unnecessary for transferring music files to MP3 player.

Instead I go into Portable Media Devices from the control panel and just treat the MP3 player like a usb device. I copy folders of music and songs into the Music folder on the MP3. For me this is way easier than the Samsung music studio or Windows Media player.

USB connection problem

my YP-U3 player will not connect via my USB port. When plugged in to a port that connects my digital camera normally it first says on screen "USB Connecting" then changes after 2 to 3 seconds to "disconnected - Charging". it has fully charged and no change. I have checked the hold switch is disengaged. the media studio software is installed ok and the portable devices functions are greyed out. I cannot find the device on my pc. I am running Windows XP SP2. I will be returning it to the store where it was purchased very soon if i cannot find a solution. I notice there are a lot of people who have posted similar problems that have not recieved solutions.ya i have th same problem im using window xp 2

USB connection problem

I think I got it guys. forget WMP 9,. 10 , 11... I run win xp service pack 2 and could not install the samsung yp-u3 player. I kept having it found as a new hardware {portable device} but as we all know this software has no drivers, and the windows update produces MTP device error. Resulting in you not being able to see your player in XP. Well go to windows update site and search for a file called "mtppk12.exe" I'm pretty sure once you install that file and reboot, you will no longer have MTP device errors. However, I installed this at the same time i installed windows media player SDK. So maybe both files are required. Finally after 2 days of troubleshooting i got mine to work.

Device drivers for samsung yp-t9jab/xac mp3 player

Since they didn't include a specific driver, then XP is supposed to download the driver automatically. Restart your computer and try replugging the player into the computer again. Use the instructions on p. 16 of the Samsung manual for installing the software, except skip the part where it says "from CD" - just use the software you grabbed from their site. If that fails, go to the Microsoft website, and get their mtp protocol software (only if you are running Windows Media Player 11). I would guarantee you that this problem is Microsoft's fault, and not Samsung's.

Samsung has a new version of Media Studio 5 available for download at its Web site. It isn't the exact model version, but seems to work.

Cant detect player

Do you have media player 11 installed? It wont work with media player 11.

Also make sure you have no traces of media player 11. When you roll back from 11 to 10 it still leaves a trace of media player 11. Check your add/remove programme setttings carefully to make sure there is no reference to media player 11. If there was and you have removed it, restart your computer.

Transfering music using windows 2000

You need to have Windows Media Player version 10 or higher to transfer files to an MP3 device.

You can drag and drop files manually from My Computer as well.
