How to replace the drum baffles on a Kenmore HE3 front load washer?
How can I replace the drum baffles? One just fell off inside the drum while washing a load of laundry. I do not see any screws or even a place for screws to secure the baffles with.

you shouldn't have to get from the backside the screw is at the rear of the baffle once you remove the screw the tabs slide and lock into slots push and pull and just reverse the process when installing the new one
it because you change cycles in the wash mode,,over reset...all fixes accept reset unplug .needs technician...if you fell you can do this repost question,,as replacing motor control unit
The baffle basket, I ordered from sears for my Kenmore Elite he3t washer was a "new" design but the screw holes lined up. My baffle basket did not come with the screw either. I took out the screw from an existing baffle basket and found something close. Test it in the baffle basket before you try to install it. Be careful not to drop the screw or bit.
To replace the baffle basket. Remove top of washer using a screwdriver with a T20 torque bit. There are three screws at the rear. The top slides back about an inch and lift up. Place aside. Then you will see a hose going into the drum. Ignore the clamp, just squeeze the end going into the drum and work it out. Now you need to insert the baffle basket in the drum through the front door. It is easiest to rotate the drum so you are inserting it on the bottom. It slides in with the small end toward you and you must pull it forward. Hold the drum for leverage. Now rotate the drum so the new baffle is on top. You need to line up the screw hole and screw in a small screw. Replace the hose and top of washer.
This advice from Sears to replace baffles only applies to dryers. The baffles for the washer are installed from inside the basket. If you can't locate mounting from inside the basket, then the entire basket/tub will have to be removed and disassembled.(big job)... But I am pretty sure they mount from inside. Washer or dryer, there are three screws in the rear along the top. Remove screws, slide top toward rear and lift off.
Ours started knocking several months ago and then progressed to a high pitched sound when in the spin cycle. I manually turned the drum and heard and felt a bearing roughness. I lifted the drum assembly and felt a fair amount of play, which I think the initial knocking noise came from. On the sears web site a new rear drum mount cost 293.00. Today we went and bought a LG model wm2455hw at Home depot, on sale until 2/20/08. I couldn't see paying to repair a machine that only lasted four years.
