Install Carburetor
NOTE: Always replace air cleaner gaskets and carburetor mounting gaskets any time the carburetor has been removed for service.
1. Position new gasket on studs with long edge of gasket opposite fuel inlet of carburetor.
2. Hook governor spring in throttle lever hole without grommet. Hook governor link in throttle lever hole with grommet.
3. Hook choke link into outer hole of choke shaft from underneath. Slide other end of choke link into slot in governor control bracket.
4. Position carburetor on engine. Install Carburetor to intake screws or nuts and torque to 70 in- lbs
5. Connect fuel hose to carburetor and secure with hose clamp.
6. Using new gasket, install air cleaner assembly to carburetor.
Adjust carburetor, if applicable.
7. After final carburetor adjustment, use Knockout Pin #19135 to install new limiter cap with flat side facing up.

I had to replace the fuel lines on my Craftsman model 358798940 leaf blower and i'm not sure how they hook up on the carburetor, 1 line runs from the fuel tank fliter to the carburetor and the other...

The fuel hose from the tank with the filter on the end goes to the main fuel inlet on the carb, this is the conection closest to the alloy pump cover held with a single screw, the other conection on the carb has a hose to the short conection on the back of the primer ( the suction side ) the longer conection on the primer ( pressure side ) has a hose back to the tank, this pipe just pushes into the top of the tank, just remember the primer pulls fuel from the carb, into the bulb, and back to the tank, not the other way round.

Working on a friends 81 yamaha 650xs. I removed and cleaned the carbs and put them back on but can t remember how the T hose from the petcock to the carbs hook up. Can someone help me

The petcock on these bikes is vacuum operated, which means that there are two hoses that go to it. The thicker hose is the fuel line and it runs from the thick port on the petcock to the fuel input on the carburetor rack. The fuel input on the carburetors is located between the number two and number three carburetor bodies. If you aren't sure which is the fuel connection, just turn the petcock switch to prime for a second and you will see gas come out of the fuel connection.

The thinner hose on the petcock is a vacuum line. It runs from the vacuum port on the #3 cylinder (between the carburetor body and the engine) up to the smaller connection on your petcock. When the engine is turning vacuum is applied to this thinner line and allows fuel to run from the tank into the carburetors.

There are the only two lines that should run to your petcock, and the fuel line should not be split anywhere between the petcock and the carburetors.

Good Luck,

Carburetor Vacuum hose schematic

The 1985 XR 250 does not have a vacuum hose that has any function as to how the carburetor works. All the hoses are atmospheric vent tube that keep the pressure consistent in the float bowl. The other tubes are simply over flow tubes in the event the bike dumps on its side or if the float sticks open.
