I have a 52" Husqvarna LGT 2654 riding lawn mower and when I engage the blades, the belt does not turn the pulley system. What could be causing this, the pulley idlers, or the belt?

When I engage the blades, the belt moves around the Pulley Idlers, but the Pulley Idlers and blades do not turn. Is it the belt, Pulley Idlers, or something else to check to be replaced?

Depending on the age of the machine, there could be several possibilities
1-- belts are not tight enough--- belt tension system is not correct, wrong length belts
2--bearings for the shafts for the blades are rusted up and seized - preventing the blades from moving--- switch the machine off , disengage the belt drive and see if you can turn the blades by hand
3--- if you have an electric pto system to drive the belts to the blades then that system is not getting full power to engage the PTO or the clutch is not working--worn facings
take it to a service dealer and have a proper diagnosis done

How to install drive belt on Husqvarna 2654 LGT riding lawn mower

U should never have to remove the steering column. Most of the time, you have to drop down the pulley on the crankshaft

Blades will not engage

Not much info, but start by checking the drive system.
Is the drive belt broken?
Is the drive belt is off one or more of the pulleys.
Is there a key in the drive pulley, and has it sheared off? If the pulley is sloppy that will be the problem.
Check the engage lever. If you can SEE chat it's supposed to do, you can usually figure out why it's not doing it.
Stay patient. You'll find it.

The blades will no longer engage on my Husqvarna 1842 lawn tractor....all the belts seem to be in good condition. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Start by making sure the belts are actually on the pulleys and the tension pulley that engages when you go to engage the blades is functioning properly.

Lgt 2654 runs fine. But when I engage the mower it pulls the engine down alot and when I start to mow it really pulls it down and it hammers. All the pulleys and idlers are free.

Sounds like the mower belt may not be routed correctly around the pulleys or may be running on the wrong side of a belt guard. Also check under the deck to make sure there are no obstructions to the turning of the blade or bent blades....you did not state where the hammering was coming from ( engine or deck ) I can only assume that it is on the deck....so these are the things I would check. Also check the tightness of the bolt on the main pulley sheave (the pulley on the bottom of the engine that drives the belt. the bolt is in the center hole of the pulley) if it is loose it can cause misalignment of the belt and juddering of the deck. If the bolt is tight, remove the belt from the engine pulley sheave and start the engine and look to see that the crankshaft is not bent causing the pulley to wobble....worst case scenario....will require new engine...hope this helps... ;-D
