Small wood burning stoves go back to an era when America was a simpler place. You didn't have to rely on a gas provider or pay extra fees to heat your home; you simply grabbed some logs from the woodpile out back and placed them in your stove. On the other hand, life wasn't all glamorous back then; the first wood stoves were leaky and left clouds of toxic black smoke everywhere, but we have come a long way. The best wood stoves of today offer increased efficiency, heat output, and safety compared to their predecessors.

Just bought a house with a Gibraltar SCR stove in it. I want to use this thing, but have never owned a stove and don't know how. What fuel? How to set the fuel in the stove, etc. Can you help?

Gibraltar makes coal, pellet and wood stoves. Stoves that burn wood pellets have a hopper and feeder auger that feeds pellets into the burning chamber. They also require electricity to work. From what I read online you should be able to burn wood in the stove but I believe the coal stoves have a smaller burning chamber.

STOVES 600DF Sl DOa - Don't have an owner's manual and can't work out how to use the buttons on the front to set time / alarm etc. Can anyone help?

I think you have categorised this problem into the incorrect model.
However if you have Stoves 600DF cooking range then you can view the operations of that in this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaDturv6pBc
There is a generic Sterling cooking range manual which migh help.

If this does not look like it then best to contact Stoves through this site

Find spare and repair manual for intrepid wood stove

Alex, I don't know how old your Vermont Castings Intrepid wood stove is, but the only available Owner's Manual is for their fairly new model Intrepid II wood stove.

A little quick history. Vermont Castings was an independent company 10 years ago, that was bought up by Majestic (FMC) Fireplace Company of Canada. About 5 years ago, Majestic went belly up and the VC line was purchased by Monesson Hearth Products. There have been some improvements to their wood stoves in the past couple of years, so as to meet the new EPA Requirements. So, this manual may show some things your stove doesn't have.

Hope this helps you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Need the installation data on a 1986 cozy comfort wood stove number70601

I hate to be the one to rain on your parade, but the chances of finding the owners/installation manual for a 20+ year old wood stove is next to impossible. In addition, if you live in the U.S., Canada, or the UK, this stove doesn't even come close to meeting the EPA, NFPA and Home Owners Insurance standards. In addition, I would be concerned about the condition of a wood stove that old and and how safe it would be to operate. For your own piece of mind, you should check with your Home Owners Insurance carrier to see if they will cover a loss, that was due to the use of this wood stove.

Hi, Have bought new house with a Ultimate Supreme 18 solid fuel wood heater and need info or user manual - where can I get a copy of details on line? Many thanx, Sue

Sue, the Owners Manual for your stove is really hard to find. Almost impossible, because it manufactured and sold only in Australia. However, I have located a dealer of the Supreme line that should be able to provide you with an Owners Manual. Their email address is [email protected]

How do we install a burner on a fireplace?

Thinking of adding a fireplace or wood stove to your home? If so, proper installation and maintenance is absolutely critical to ensuring the fire stays inside your freestanding fireplace or wood stove and doesn't venture outside of it.

If your manufactured home already has a fireplace or wood stove, it's a good idea to go look over these safety guidelines to confirm that it was installed correctly. If you plan to install a fireplace or wood stove, follow these safety guidelines carefully.

First, don't try to tackle this project yourself. While installation manuals usually provide all the instructions necessary for a manufactured home owner to install a wood-burning fireplace or wood stove, the consequences of a mistake are so disastrous, it's a task best left to experts.

It's a good idea to first check with your insurance company for their guidelines before installing these items. Your insurance policy may not cover damages if a fireplace or wood stove was not professionally installed. Plus, the manufacturer's warranty on the fireplace or wood stove may not apply unless the unit is installed by a professional.
