E:08: Pull the tension release lever. (The lever that opens the tension discs may be engaged.) 1. Make sure the lever is not engaged (keeping the tension discs open) and check the connections. 2. Remove the tension unit cover and check the position of the microswitch. Adjust the position of this microswitch. Replace the microswitch if necessary.
Sounds like the cable is disconnected from the water valve. Check under hood at the fire wall where heater hoses connect to heater core. Water control valve should be in one of the two hoses and the cable end should be visible . Water is off when A/C is on.
check that the drive pulley to the hydraulic unit is still fixed to he shaft and has not got loose and just turning but not driving the pump shaft. Other than that you may have to check out the pump pressure of the drive unit.
Check that youhave threaded up the take up lever correctly and that the top tension device is working. Thread up top from spool tojust before the needle, lower presser foot to engage tension and pull threaddownwards. It should feel firm on normal tension of 4 or 5. If it doesnt, then top tension is probably faulting. You can sometimes clean between the discs but if its the spring you may be better taking it to a tech to fix. Clean by turning tension to zero and floss between discs with clean selvage edge of fabric offcut to remove any gunk.
Most frequently the needle is just in backwards or threaded from wrong side, or using the wrong needle- check it over.... The presser foot must be released to press on fabric else the tension adjuster will be set to zero tension and could cause issue. Expect simple stuff else timing was knocked out of adjustment (from striking something, etc) Take two adjustments and call me in the morning... for real, get back to me if it isnt anything basic I will try to describe timing procedure
Bunching of thread is 99% a top tension problem.
Make
sure you thread the top thread correctly. Thread the machine with the
presser lever up. Test the tension by lowering the presser lever
before
threading the eye of the needle, by pulling the
thread with your left hand and adjusting the tension with your right
hand while slowly pulling downwards. There should be no resistance when
the tension dial is on zero, and you should be able to feel more
resistance when you increase the tension. Ideal tension is between 3 and
5. When your top tension is correct, your machine should operate
correctly. If you feel no resistance with the presser foot down and the
tension dial on 5, check the tension disks for fluff or broken thread.
When you lift the presser foot, the tension disks should open and you
would be able to remove any cotton or fluff. Good Luck
trace the cable to the connection on the motor.check that throttle lever is connected to cable, and lever moves when throttle is turned.cable may have broken.
Your clutch lever should have a cable connected to it. Trace it from the lever down to the engine and make sure nothing is disconnected or out of place. That big knurled knob next to the lever is the adjusment and locknut for cable tension. Loosen lock nut, srew cable away from lever until you have only 1/4 " of play between lever and the stop. You should feel tension coming back into the lever...If you have a bicycle ,it is the same drill for adjusting your brakes...look and see...it may help you understand the process...any bicycle mech can show you...maybe a neighbor...Good Luck to you friend....Tim
Check your tension disks, with your presser foot up, and the tension dial on zero. Sometimes a piece of cotton breaks off between the tension disks and then prevents the disks to work properly. Also make sure when you thread the machine, the thread does go through the disks and over the take up lever. After you threaded the machine, before putting the thread through the eye of the needle, lower the presser foot and while pulling on the thread with your left hand, increase the tension with your right hand. Do it slowly and you should feel in difference in tension. If this is the case, your machine should work fine. Good Luck!
