There is no torque value. Commonly, Head bolts are tightened and then removed in sequence as you step threw 3 values: 23/33/45 ft lbs then the final value is achieved by rotating the bolts 90 degrees so the final value is unknown.

You have to get either a hayes manual or follow a procedure online if you are replacing the head gasket. If you are not replacing the gasket do not "re-torque" the head bolts thinking that you can fix a head gasket leak.

Maybe the torque is insufficient. Was the correct torque sequence followed? Are you reusing stretch head bolts?

3 layer head gaskets torque to 22 ft/lb then 60°-65° then 60°-65°again.
2 layer head gasket torque to 18 ft/lb then 60°-65° then 60`-65° again

with great difficultry, It is verry time consuming end verry costly to have it (Replaced)

Buy a gasket kit for the upper end. Remove the valve cover intake and exhaust manifolds. Remove the head bolts. Remove head and clean up block from old gasket material. Take the head to a machinist and make sure that it is not warped. If it is warped either replace the head with a new one or have it machined true. Install new gasket and get torque specs with new head bolts and follow torque sequence using the correct torque specs. Clean exhaust, intake and valve cover of old gaskets. install new gaskets and torque according to specifications.

Tighten the head bolts 29 to 32 ft lbs , then tighten again to 59 to 64 ft lbs

Cylinder head bolt torque sequence—3.4L engine

Cylinder head by aligning it with the dowel pins

New cylinder head bolts coated with a sealant (such as GM 1052080). Torque the bolts in the proper sequence (1-8) to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm). Using a torque angle meter turn the bolts 90 degrees in the proper sequence.

Left side exhaust manifold. Torque the bolts to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).

Spark plugs. Torque the plugs 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).

Right side rear cylinder head:

New cylinder head gasket

Cylinder head on top of the gasket and make certain it is lined up properly with the dowel pins

New cylinder head bolts coated with a sealant (such as GM 1052080). Torque the bolts in the proper sequence (1-8) to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm). Using a torque angle meter turn the bolts 90 degrees in the proper sequence.

Right side exhaust manifold. Torque the bolts to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).

Spark plugs. Torque the plugs 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).

Spark plug wires

Exhaust crossover pipe. Torque the fastener to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

Valve rocker arms and pushrods. Torque the fastener to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Using a torque angle meter torque the fastener an additional 30 degrees.

Lower intake manifold. Torque the bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).

Upper intake manifold. Torque the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

REMOVE 3 BOLTS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT THREADS.IF BOLTS LOOK OKAY.YOUR BOLTS HOLES HAS DEBRIS OR OIL AND ANTIFREEZE IN THEM.OR YOUR BOLT HOLES IS STRIPPED.YOU HAVE TO REMOVE HEAD TO FIX THE THREAD PROBLEM.IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE THE FINAL TORQUE TO CRUSH AND SEAL HEAD GASKET THE. HEAD GASKET PROBABLY ALRIGHT.YOU HAVE TO LOOSEN HEAD BOLTS IN SEQUENCE BACK OFF A LITTLE AT EACH BOLTS.IF HEAD GASKET LOOK DAMAGE AT BOLT HOLES REPLACE HEAD GASKET.

Head Bolt Torque For your 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (3.4L SFI DOHC): Foot pounds (Final torque) Note: Torque sequence --------- | 6 2 3 7 | | 5 1 4 8 | --------- Step 1: torque in sequence to 33 Ft/Lbs Step 2: turn an additional 90 degrees Recheck final torque in sequence *** CAUTION ***engine uses Torque To Yield head bolts (TTY) thatpermanently stretch during the initial installation.New head bolts must be used when cylinder head isreplaced or re-installed to obtain proper torque.
