The memory card will not stay in the camera. pops back up when installed. Something apparently broken inside that holds the memory card in. Is this fixable? Otherwise, best camera I ever had.

SOURCE: SD card won't stay in camera

Quick fix... Roll a little piece of paper up or fold into a small square the set it on top of the memory card and tape that down. so that it puts pressure on the card and keeps it seated in the slot. It sounds like the spring inside the camera is broken. which you will need to have sent out to be repaired unless you have a local camera repair person. And that is going to take about a month. Actually more... unless you find a local repair person. Because Sony bought out minolta a couple years ago and shut down all the minolta repair centers and got rid of almost all their parts. I once had a customer who sent in a minolta to get it fixed and it took about 8 months to get it back. Because of parts.
So You will probably want buy a new camera. but there are still a lot of those Minolta's around on clearance and you can get a great price.
Hope that helps,
Caleb

SOURCE: Can a SDHC card be used with a CF card adapter in Nikon D70s?

You would have to get an SDHC to CF adapter which could be pricey and they are hard to come by.

SOURCE: Memory card is locked w. Canon Powershot SD1000

Your Sd1100 is compatible with a 4gb card, so that's not the issue. If the lock-switch is in the correct position, the only logical conclusion (which you have already come to.....good troubleshooting on your part!) is that the camera is busted. Send your two "friends" the bill. What a drag.

SOURCE: memory card will not stay down in a nikon coolpix s210

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. However, instead of getting a new body with a broken screen and exchanging my screen (One of the only ways round it) I thought I'd try something.

I folded a piece of paper (Quite a small piece) and put in on top of the card when it is popped. I then just closed the battery/card cover and it stayed in place. This is a cheap way of fixing it, it's now been fine for a while, it's a bit of a shoddy fix but it's better than paying nikon £50 to get it fixed.

It takes a couple of trys, getting the paper the right size was a little bit of a pain but it now works fine.

Good luck,
J

My memory card will not stay down in my Kodak easy share z950 how can i fix it so it will stay down

There is a little spring assembly in there that pops the card out when you press a button or something. But if the button is stuck or not working the card will always pop out! If you remove the spring that will do the trick - to remove card in future you use tweezers like I do with my Garmin! Does the trick and works fine!!!!!!!!!!

The card does not stay down in the camera slot, it keeps popping up. How do you fix this problem?

Sounds like the internal latch that secures the card is broken.

My memory card wont stay inside my Pentax Optio M50, it pops out as if a spring or something is broken so I'm not sure how I can fix it. Has anyone else had this problem with this camera?

This is a work around since I didn`t want to touch the electrics or ruin the camera which works exceptionally well. The camera still works fine but the memory card had to be held in tightly to the contacts by pressing on the access door. I tried adding a spacer but this affected the door closing. So I extended the length of the memory card by super gluing the surface of a thick broccoli elastic (about 2 mm thick and 1/4" wide) and carefully extending the end of the memory card. Note I applied the glue to the elastic and not the memory card, to prevent capillary action drawing the superglue into the card. After it dried, I trimmed around the card with scissors and tried it out. The final test was to remove the card from the camera and insert it into my laptop to ensure that the pics were captured on the card. Worked like a charm and the cards are cheap, with no adjustments to the camera itself._198.jpg

P, td, li {font-family: arial, u; font-size:9pt; margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px; word-spacing:1px;} If you camera freezes when you power it on or when you try to take a picture, you may have a defective memory card. To test your camera and the memory card, follow these steps:
  1. Power off your camera.
  2. Remove the battery from your camera. If you have a memory card inside the camera, remove that as well.
  3. Clean out any dust or debris inside the battery compartment, and then re-insert the battery into your camera.
  4. Power your camera on without the memory card installed.
  5. Take a picture.
    • If your camera takes a picture, re-install the memory card, and then go to Step 6.
    • If it does not take a picture, your camera requires service. To set up service, click the Create Online Service Request button below.
  1. Format the memory card in the camera, and then take another picture.
  2. Important: Formatting erases all pictures and other data from the card. If you have pictures on the memory card you want to keep, download those pictures to your computer before you format the memory card.
    • If your camera does not take a picture with the formatted memory card installed, replace the memory card.
    • If the issue still persists after you’ve installed a new memory card, your camera requires service. To set up service, click the Create Online Service Request button below

Putting back pictures to memory card

hi this should be pretty easy, all you do is go to my pictures, highlight one picture, then hold down the right shift key, while scrolling down to the end of your pictures, click on the last picture, then release the shift key,you might not want all of the highlighted picture or thet might not all fit depending on how muck space you have on the card.if you have enough thats fine if not you can take the ones you want to stay on the computer,by simply holding the ctrl(control) button down and clicking on the ones you want to stay on your computer, continue clicking the ones you want to stay while holding the ctrl, button down.now after you,ve highlighted all the pictures you want back on your card, look to your left and you should see something stating move these files.click on that,a window should pop up,and ask you where do you want to move them if you dont see a removable media icon in that window, double click my computer and it should appear highlight your media card and click move.thats it you should see your files being transfered.i hope i helped.good luck

Nikon d40x issues with memory card

Sounds like the locking mechanism for your memory card is broken or defective. The only people qualified to fix that would be Nikon.

If it is still under warranty, let them know the situation.

If not, it will be around $200 to fix.
