Check by placing the verizon cable box some where else . Your tv is sensing the remote signal of the verso remote and it taking it as a command for standby.

SOURCE: LG Volume to 100 by Itself - will NOT respond to remote

It's hard to diagnose without a model, but, given the problem I would say it is a 42LC7.
If it is, then, it needs a modification in the main PCB. We used to jumper coils at first, now we have to change the main PCB.
It's less than a year old, it's under warranty.

SOURCE: Remote volume control for Sharp Aquos 42inch LCD not working

User 'rapolley' is absolutely right. One can cycle through the functions to access different options, ie. 'TV', 'Audio', 'DVD', etc. I stumbled upon this solution when I thought my 'Menu' button wasn't working. All I had to do is cycle through the 'Functions' and choose 'Menu' once I get to 'TV'. Thanks!

SOURCE: LG TV 32LB9D VOLUME STUCK AT 100, NO RESPONSE TO REMOTES

The fault may be on the control board. Sometimes the button switches can be stuck, or there may be something causing some conduction on the control circuit board. It is also possible to have a component failure that is causing a continuous command to keep the volume to the high position.

Something that causes failures of controls in TV sets is when people clean the screen, they spray liquid cleaner on the screen. Some of it drips down in to the controls and on to the circuit board. This will usually cause damage, and thus the set will require shop service.

For Time Warner Cable digital remote controls to work with your 42" LG HDTV, do the following:

1. Press "TV" and "OK" simultaneously for 3 seconds, until the button "tv" light on the remote is on.

2. Enter the TV code. In this case, it's "113". With the right code, your component will turn off. Quickly press the power button on your digital cable remote to turn it back on. Press the "TV" button again so that the remote saves that code.

Having problem to use the Verizon FIOS Remote control to control the volume of my Sceptre X42 LCD TV. The FIOS remote is able to turn On/Off the TV though. Any idea what is wrong with this?

program the remote to control tv volume by 1. Press and hold the STB key. 2. While holding down the STB key, press OK. 3. Release both keys. The Device Keys will blink twice. 4. Press 9 - 5 - 5. The STB key will blink twice. 5. Press TV. The TV key will blink 3 times to indicate success in programming. try the remote after that . if the volume still doesn't work check to see if there is another code that also works with your TV. (on my Sony TV one code works everything while another code only turns it on and off. for my Epson S3 the remote will not work with it at all.) here is the manual for the remote: http://www22.verizon.com/NROneRetail/NR/rdonlyres/2DEF67C9-87F0-4B46-B1BD-A40472BC281A/0/PhilipsRC144RemoteControlUserGuide.pdf

Verizon FIOS remote buttons all work except Volume. Sony Trinitron WEGA remote has to be used. Volume is Fixed. Can something be done to control volume with the Verizon remote?

I had the same problem with a Sony Trinitron KV-32FS320 32" TV. I reset the remote to factory default.
  • Press and hold STB
  • While holding STB, press OK
  • Release both keys, wait for device keys to blink twice
  • Press 9-0-0. The STB key will blink three times
Then I reprogrammed the TV control.
  • Turn your television on
  • Press STB to enter Set Top Box mode
  • Press and hold TV
  • While holding TV, press OK
  • Release both keys, wait for device keys to blink twice
  • Press 1-1-2-7. This is one of the Sony TV codes
After this, the volume + and - worked to control the TV.
  • Program any other devices, such as DVD using procedure similar to above.
I hope this works for you.

Onkyo htr 330 universal remote codes

I have the HT-R570 Receiver and here's what I ended up doing to use the Verizon FIOS DVR remote to turn the receiver on and off with volume control. Know that Onkyo uses 2 codes 1 for on and 1 for off so use the AUX for ON with Volume control and the DVD for OFF. (I rarely use my DVD and when I do I use the DVD remote that came with the DVD)

Use the AUX and codes 1347 or 1558 to turn the receiver on with volume control. Press AUX and OK together and release. Enter the code. it should now turn the receiver ON with volume control.

To use the DVD button to turn the Receiver OFF, you have to use the search method to capture the code. Tried every code I could find on the internet and their is no universal code for OFF and ON.) With the receiver ON, push down DVD and OK together and release (should get 2 flashes of all component keys) enter 922 and with remote pointing at the receiver press the >" (forward/pause button) then press and release the >> (fast forward button) until the receiver turns off. If you go too fast and go past it, quickly turn receiver back on (within 20 seconds) and press-release the <<(backwards button) slowly until it turns off again. Then press the OK button to store the OFF code in the DVD function button. Any questions...E-Mail me at [email protected] Lots of Luck!

Code for Verizon FIOS remote Control

I have a solution which has worked well for me. It uses the DVD button at the top of the remote. It was a trade-off as none of the codes in the RC144 Philips remote will work any Blu-ray players, so the DVD button was unassigned. The 922, 955 and 977 codes are explained in the directions for the FIOS remote. http://onlinehelp.verizon.net/consumer/bin/pdf/philips%20rc1445302%20user%20guide.pdf
1. Set up your TV button to work your TV.
2. Set up your Onkyo code, pick one to turn on the receiver. I used 3719
3. Use the 9-2-2 code to cycle through all available codes. At about a count of 300 I found one which will turn the Onkyo receiver off. Make sure you start this process with the ONKYO receiver already on. Once you find it press the OK button.
4. Use the 9-7-7 code to power all devices TV, AUX and DVD from the power button.
In this way, each time the power button is pressed it will send both the power on and power off signal to the ONKYO receiver.
This technique works well when you point the remote at the ONKYO receiver and press power button. Apparently the TV has better reception for the signal then the ONKYO does.
