please run a channel scan on your tv before checking for the issue again. If the issue persists, please remove all accessories from the tv before restarting it. If necessary, you can then power cycle the tv. Otherwise, you can move onto running a factory reset on your Sony tv.
It's one of 3 things, start by removing the LVDS cable (goes from main board to tcon board) and flat ribbon cables going from tcon board to panel, clean with rubbing alcohol and q tips, replace. The tcon board is the smaller board in the middle bottom of the set, it may have a metal shield over it. If that doesn't help try replacing the tcon board, if that doesn't help your panel is defective and the set isn't worth fixing.
The TCON Board or the LCD panel is faulty. Can confirm by replacing the Tcon board.
I'd you wiah to get some more details about LCD TV repair then check the following link http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.
This is likely a problem with your TCON circuit board inside the back of the tv.
The TCon board usually has 2 very thin ribbon like cables running from connectors on the board to the actual LCD screen panel. Each ribbon controls one half of the screen. If you are lucky, it's possible one of the ribbons came loose or is not making proper electrical contact with the connector on the TCON board.
If your tv is out of warranty and you are comfortable working safely with electronics then you may be able to repair this yourself with a few hours of screwdriver work. The ribbons may just need to be reseated in the little flip up connectors, or you may have to clean the copper at the tips of the ribbons gently with a pencil eraser to remove any oxidation.
If you are unlucky enough to have a bad TCON board or are not comfortable disassembling your tv yourself then you can bring it in to the shop and they can probably repair it for less than $150.
Good luck and please post back if this helps and with how you make out.
Just a copy from Sony:
5X Blink - TCON & HFR Failure
The 5X blink protection mode indicates a communications error between the TCON/HFR board and the MT5388 microprocessor on the A-Board. First replace the TCON/HFR Board if the 5X protection mode blink pattern occurs. If the TCON/HFR Board does not repair the problem then replace the A-Board.
