Needle stuck in right position

My left- middle- right needle position is stuck on the right side. I have opened up the machine and oiled everything the manual tells me to, and cleaned some gunk it didn't tell me too. It will move back and forth if I push it on the needle shank, but not from the lever itself.

Try directing heat from a handheld hair dryer into the internal mechanics where you applied oil. If the old oil has solidified, it is probably preventing the parts from moving freely. Be sure to always use Fresh, good quality sewing machine oil (NO 3-in-1, WD-40, cooking oil, or old stinky oil from grandma's sewing basket). Also apply only 1-2 drops each spot. Frequent oiling should be around every 40 hours of sewing time, or at least every 3 months.

Here's a manual if you need one (oiling instructions on pg 74):

Needle is stuck in left position

Really not able to provide much help without knowing the make & model. However, if it is an older mechanical machine, quite possibly it is seizing due to old oil that has dried.

I have a singer 401A. My needle is either hitting the presser foot or the plate underneath.

Most likely your machine is out of time or the needle bar is out of adjustment. May be best to take it for service.

Necchi automatic supernova Julia; zig zag won't engage

There is a lever for positioning the needle bar. When you move the lever to the left middle or right , the needle bar too should follow the same. Try to do that. If it doesn't follow the lever and stays at one end, that means the machine needs to be oiled. Not like most sewing machines Supernova swings the bottom rod too to left and right when Zig Zag is engaged. I recommend to spray some WD 40 first, to inside of top and bottom side of the machine , and later to apply machine oil to every moving joints.

Crazy question but .....how do you center the needle? Always sits to the left

Don't know about your particular model, but maybe left is the normal "resting" position. When on zigzag it will move to the right then back to the left. As long as all of your different stitch patterns keep the needle between the limits of the hole above the shuttle and does not hit the machine bed then I would best guess everything is fine.
Hope that is of some help.

How do I change the needle position on my Bernina 1630?

Not sure, but if this is the one with the track ball, try pushing in on it to activate needle position.

We bought a singer 518 from a person that didn't use it for 10 years. everything works fine but the zigzag function. could it only be for lack of lubrication?

when a sewing machine has set for 10 years with out being used, the oil & grease
can cause the machine not to work right. and since the zig zag stitch isn't working
my suggestion is to have the machine serviced at a sewing machine shop to make sure there nothing more wrong with it than oiling & greasing, and that way the machine can also be check to make sure the machine is in time, because if it is out of time it will not sew, no matter now nice it looks.

The needle is entering the machine far to the left. The needle is in correctly and the bobbin plate has not shifted. It appears that the device holding the needle from above has shifted (it shifts easily...

Is your needle position selector stuck? Try moving the dial back and forth a few times. Have your oiled your machine lately? You manual is available on Singerco.com and is free to download. Good luck
