There should be two sets of cables, 1 set per battery, do not put one cable on one battery and one on another. Black is - and Red is +. the each cable plugs into its connector into the scooter system.

Merits regal mobility scooter beeps 9 times

hi, normally 9 flashes means controller failure but can be caused by a bad connection.

Locate the controller and refit all connections but i recommend removing a battery terminal lead first.

My Merits S549 does not move even when light flashes when key inserted, horn works and battery charge indicator is in the green. Ant ideas?

I can't help you with this, but it appears that there is power there based on what you say. I would be inclined on taking this to a mechanic to get this looked at because it may involve a motor or a switch.

SHELBY ANTRIM'S MERITS MOBILITY SCOOTER HAS AN ELECTRIC SHORT SOMEWHERE BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS THE LIGHTS THE TURN SIGNALS AND THE HORN AND IT HAS NEW BATTERIES

turn the speed up some, unplug Charger, put brake lever in drive mode - hard to push, restart with the key. make sure no damage has happened to the wiring harness that connects to the back. Circuit break may need to be pushed in. this is a start. Next thing would be the Throttle and speed pot.

Where is a wiring schematic for a Merits Pioneer 3 S 131 3 wheeled scooter?

You can call Tech support at Merits 800-963-7487. owners manual may have where the fuses would be. Lights could be burnt out. more likely the wires were disconnected.

My electric scooter hesitates, then goes, hesitates, then goes without letting up on the throttle

Going and Slowing is usually a problem with the throttle pot. They are often easy to fix yourself with a bit of WD40 once you have found out where the throttle pot is on your machine. Sometimes they have to be replaced, but fortunately the part is quite cheap. You didn't say what brand your scooter is, but Pride scooters are known for throttle pot problems.
