Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

Vizio vx32L hdtv10a no pic or control, unplug to turn off

After having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound.

HOW I FIXED MINE:Look through the back vents for a white light to make sure the backlight still works. I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com (you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up, disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine. I used both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me $144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.

For me the part number was either (depending on the vendor) : 0171 2272 2174 or it was 3632 0212 0150. Check your circuit and see if any of those numbers match up.

The HDD is no longer seen by the system, can't access media library etc. Is there any way of testing if this is an HDD failure or system board issue.

You may have a loose wire or one that's not making good connection. unplug all wires going to hard drive, then reconnect them. Also make sure the plugs to the motherboard is secure. I have this same problem with my pc from time to time.

My tv when connected to a video pics and sound comes normal, but when tuned to a tv station no sound will come but pic is fine.

Make sure your SAP button is not turned on. This will give you a no audio condition when watching broadcasts thru the tuner. If this doesn't help then your tuner could be defective.

Need to unplug/ plug i tv for power to come on?

Sounds like you have a problem on your power board. Most likely a components value is changing after it is powered on for a period of time. this is more common for a resister or capacitor. Do you have any power when it will not turn on, A power led blinking etc quick screen flash etc.
Most likely the bad component (s) will continue to deteriorate until it will not turn on at all. Also it is possible operating your tv like could case more extensive damage. Sound like after its is pluged in for a time it faults and prevents itself from turning on this is called protection mode. When you disconnect power you are resting and at he the time it checks itself the voltages are correct. For more detail and possible solutions post your make, model, and any other useful info.

For parts such as a new power board. Check

I have a puzzle for you ,I will describe the fault, and you leave me any information you can gather. The hard drive on Acer (xp) is 40gb, split into c&d drives The disc would not defrag as only 15%...

There is nothing that changing the partition or volume information on the Hard drive would do to cause this issue. My first suggestion would be to unplug the Hard Drive and then try turning the PC on. If you get the Acer logo up then the Hard drive has failed. Otherwise there is something wrong with the Motherboard or RAM.

I would suggest taking it in for Warranty service if it is still under warrnaty, otherwise try what I have suggested. Good luck.
