have you contacted the company you bought the sewing machine from to tell them the power cord was not in the box?
you should not have to buy a power cord they should supply you with one.

then thre is the cord. You have a cord that connects to the machine then there is the other end to plug it in the wall to get electricity. The contact has to fit the socket https://www.sewing.about.com/

The stem of the broken needle may have a number or letter of the type of point you had. I believe the stems are all the same size, or that it doesn't matter as most are secured with a thumb screw.
