ACTIVA 210 WON'T DO REVERSE STITCH

If your Activa 210 sewing machine is not performing the reverse stitch function, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue:
1. Incorrect stitch selection: Ensure that you have selected the correct stitch that includes a reverse stitch. Some stitches, particularly decorative or specialty stitches, may not have a reverse option. Check your machine's manual to identify the stitches that offer reverse functionality.
2. Mechanical issue: There could be a mechanical problem preventing the reverse stitch function. Check if there is any lint, debris, or thread buildup in the reverse stitch lever or mechanism. Clean the area carefully with a soft brush or use compressed air to remove any obstructions that may be hindering the reverse stitch mechanism.
3. Stitch length setting: Verify that the stitch length is not set to zero. If the stitch length is at its minimum, it may prevent the reverse stitch function from engaging. Increase the stitch length slightly and try again.
4. Incorrect machine operation: Ensure that you are following the correct procedure to engage the reverse stitch. Typically, you would need to press and hold down a lever or button while sewing to activate the reverse stitch. Refer to your machine's manual for the specific instructions on how to engage the reverse stitch.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact a professional sewing machine technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They will be able to provide specific guidance and help diagnose any potential mechanical issues with your Activa 210 sewing machine.

How to back stitch on a Janine 8000

Do you mean the Janome Memory Craft 8000? If so, look to the right of the top thread path. There are three buttons. The middle button is the reverse button. If you are doing a straight stitch, the machine will sew backwards until released. For all other stitches, the machine will sew locking stitches and then stop. If the button doesn't work, the machine may need to be repaired.

The lowest button is the start/stop. The highest button controls the needle stop position (Up/Down).

I hope this helps.

Janome Memory Craft 8200QC Horizon. Can you get a stitch regulator? How does it work? Does it help to free motion stitch ?

You should check with a Janome dealer if your machine can use a stitch regulator. Machines that take a stitch regulator need the ability to plug into the machine, which is not available on a lot of machines unless they have the stitch regulator function. A stitch regulator helps some people. It still takes a lot of practice moving the fabric smoothly.

On my BSR, it has an "eye" that measures the distance the fabric moves under the presser foot so it can stitch at the specified distance. The faster the fabric moves, the faster it stitches, but the stitches tend to more uniform in length.

FWIW, I read a summary of the Janome 8200 QC Horizon and there was no mention of a stitch regulator.

I have a Janome Newhome 672. Cleaned and oiled it, works great. But, the decorative stitches will not form correctly. The reverse is not engaging. How can I fix this. Also, the button hole knob h

In most cases Laurie, with decorative stitches selected some machines can't sew in reverse. Your stitch length is too long or too short to make the decorative stitches sew correctly. So many things could be wrong. I'd need more info to get you going again.

Why is my Janome Mystyle 20 stuck on reverse?

It may be in the buttonhole mode, change the stitch selector to straight stitch.

Dogs motor?

Does it have a stitch length dial which ranges from 4 down to 0 and then into negative numbers? If so, the negative numbers will be reverse stitches. Some machines have this functionality and its very happy for doing mending or stitching in awkward places to sew backwards without having to hold the reverse button.

However, if yours is only sewing backwards when stitch length is set to 2, 3 or 4, then its probably a drive problem internally. Don't think your machine has a seperate motor for the feed dogs, probably a gear driven shaft in the free arm.

How do I turn corners with the overlock foot for a Janome 2049?

Sew to the end of the fabric, slowing right down to within a stitch or two of the end, manually turn wheel to complete last two stitches, stop, raise needle, raise presser foot, turn fabric so the back edge of the fabric is just under the needle, drop needle, drop presser foot and resume.

Stitch problems

You can adjust the pressure foot(not footpedal)which puts the prsure on the foot by the needle. Also try altering the stitch length. If the stitches are skipping on silky fabric or knitted fabrics try using tissue and sewing onto that directly then tearing it off afterwards.

Janome Harmony 2049

Darning would normally be done with the triple stretch stich, the one that is a zig-zag broken up into three stitches right and then three stitches left. See-through Zig-Zag foot. Zig-Zag set at it's widest. Feed set to about 1/16-1/8 inch (1.5-3mm) and darn by sewing forward a bit, adjust fabric, and then backward by pressing and holding the reverse button. Continue back and forth until you've created a darned box. For extra strength, turn fabric 90 degrees and repeat over same area.
