Other tapes play ok.
SOURCE: reinsert cassette
Trust me on this one....with tape still in unit and battery removed, smack both sides of unit firmly 3-4 times with the heel of your hand. It works 9 out of 10 times on all Sony cameras. I was quoted $170 to just look at the camera and then a probable $290 to replace the cassette loader mechanism. I told them it wasn't worth it. I checked other Sony blogs addressing the same issue and with out fail smacking the ...cking thing is the only way around it. Apparently it frees up a stuck part. Give it hell.
SOURCE: Message reads eject. won't eject
My camera did the exact same thing. I called Canon tech support and they advised to unplug power cord, remove large main battery, and remove smallbackup battery. The small back up battery is under a small door under the main backup battery. With everything disconnected, turn camera to "camera" and then to "vcr" and then to off. Wait a few seconds. Put everything back together and try to eject again. The tech said that resets all the mechanical parts. However, it did not work for me. They now want me to send it to them for a paid repair. I have done some research on the internet and this is a VERY commom problem and it usually costs about $150 to correct via Cannon. Many times the problem occurs again. I am very very frustrated. I pulled my camera out last night to get it ready as my wife is 9months into her pregnancy. Now, I have to send my camera away for 5-9 days. Really really upset.
SOURCE: Remove Cassette Error
I repair gl2s for canon and when you get a remove cassette message 9 times out of 10 it is 2 gears on the m-chassis that have failed they spit oil all over the inside and then the gear comes in contact with the m-chassis and binds up they are both white and in the middle you can see one when you open it and the other is on the inside that you cant see unless you take take the cover off and thats why you get that message but the ribbon part is something else that needs to be looked at you should send it in to a qualified canon repair facility. tell them the chassis is defective its actually code D106, E52, send those codes in with canon and make sure they see them.
SOURCE: cassette will not fully eject open to remove tape and will not play the tape
Hi rocky54, As baalthazar say. You can try to oppen it up if its stuck. I dont think you will do anything by pressing any button. Get a screw driver and open it.
This might help you while you open it, its the manual

SOURCE: Left Deck Door Stuck Shut on Cassette Deck
The cassette mechanism has a large gear that rotates to different
positions for the different modes. On time around is a play -
stop cycle. It is stuck in one position and won't come around to
the stop spot. Need to take the cover off and help it to turn to
get the cassette out. Then figure out if something is wrong
preventing it from turning or if the wheel driving it is the
problem. They are all a little different so this is where your
mechanical apptitude comes in.
By the way, you'll figure out right away they don't intend these things to be fixed.
Hope Ya Fix It.
