No, the Canon Pixma iP3000 is only a printer. It's not a multi-function (or all-in-one) copier/scanner/printer. See here to get the specifications for the printer. Canon's Pixma printers with MG in the model number are all-in-one photo printers.
Maybe you should read the user's manual? I've reas cutomer's review at Amazon and looks users have no problem with the scanning feature of this printer. If you don't have the manual, get it from here: Canon PIXMA MG2520 Manual

You may need to download canon's navigator program to retrieve the scan. The printer driver will not do that. Just google "canon navigator (plus your printer model) and the program should come up.
