After installing the XL-2400 Lamp unit. This is the blub and housing. I turned the TV on and after a few moments the tv turned off and on the front of the tv where the power light is it is flashing red.

lamp burned out and popped all you need to do is replce lamp.the lamp part number is xl 2400.there is a door on the right side of tv.remove door and then remove innerdoor by turning handle carefully. then pull ring attatched to lamp housing.then replace in reverse order making sure inner door is replaced properly cause there is a safety switch on inner door that wont let tv power up if not replaced correctly. this should solve your problem good luck .

or if its the power light that blinks then turn off tv for 5 mins. unplug power cord for 1 min. try plugging the power cord directly into working wall outlet. if same, tv needs service. visit eservice.sony.com website to check service option

Installation is Quick and Easy:

Unplug your TV from your power outlet

Allow the lamp to cool for at least one (1) hour before replacing it

Remove the Lamp unit cover (Usually located at the rear of the television)

Unscrew the lamp housing unit

Remove the old lamp housing unit and discard

Screw in the new lamp housing unit

Place the cover back onto your TV unit Caution: Do NOT touch the bulb directly with your fingers.

no you should only replace a bulb with the one made for that brande t.v. you should put in a sony xl-2400 in your sony t.v. and yes you should get both housing and bulb in 1 i bought mine off ebay for about 116.00$ both lamp and housing very easy to replace good luck also if you have a sony kdf-42we655 or 50we655the lamp part # is xl-21oou or xl-2100
