Re: How do I reset my Hotpoint dishwasher (Model...
Cleaning the filters is straight forward and should not require a reset
I suggest you check the water supply to the machine as it may be air locked preventing the start sequence from operating. Hotpoint dishwasher Model FDD914K manual Google

Manual says to unplug maching from wall for at least 40 seconds to a minute. This will reset the unit. If that does not work you will need to call a service tech.
You will need to provide the model number of the dishwasher. However, the likely causes of the lights flashing are many, including water inlet failure, blocked drain filter, leaking seals causing flood switch to trip. You may want to go to the Hotpoint site and find the manual for your model.
No solution! tried resetting to factory defaults but ended up that even the drain pump stopped working. after flooding the kitchen (nearly). I decided it was terminal and am loking for a new dishwasher urgently as I type. Cheers.
ive not worked on hotpoint dishwashers, does the dishwasher drain? at the point it plays up is it supposed to be filling or washing.check the filters inlet valve etc.do you still have the manual for the dishwasher.the flashing lights are most likley a fault code but we dont get hotpoint dishwashers in australia.sorry i cant be of more help.Ian
I had a hotpoint engineer try to fix this type of problem. He insisted that there was something stuck in the bottom of the filter or pump.
Sure enough there was. 1. Unplug your dishwaser at the wall. Check its off or disconnected. 2. Remove the grill under the bottom rack. 3. Ensure that the filter is free from food and other obstacles and clean the filter. 4. Before replacing filter etc, get a piece of metal coat hanger wire and care fully insert it down the channel under the filter to free any lodged items. You may also see a small white impleller try to turn this with your finger or the coat hanger wire (this is the info from the engineer!). 5. replace filter and retry a wash.
This routine fixed or machine twice and will hopefully fix yours!

fyi The third time about 1 year later this occured again and even hotpoint gave up as they could not fix the machine. (after multiple visits). I think that the two flashing lights are were a red herring and the dishwasher had a separate intermittent fault. Hotpoint replaced the unit for a mimum charge. Callout + 40.
