My problem is pretty simple. The menu screen for my 42" Philips plasma TV keeps popping up on the screen. I press the menu button on the remote to exit, but the menu pops right back up after a couple seconds. I've tried unplugging the TV for the night hoping it would "reboot" when plugged back in.....didn't work. I thought maybe it was a problem in the remote, so I took the batteries out......still kept popping up. I'm out of ideas! HELP!

I did the same, replaced two bulging capacitors...cost me 2.00 for the capacitors and $20 for the desoldering/soldering tools. First time doing anything close to this with any electronics...tv works great now.

I am having this same problem. I have "fixed" this problem twice by replacing 2 failed capacitors inside. The fix is pretty easy and the cost of the replacement parts is about $2.50. Unfortunately, the fix doesn't last. The first time, the TV worked again for about 6 months, but the 2nd time, when I replaced with higher grade capacitors, I only got another 2 weeks out of the TV. I think it's time to cut my losses and get a new set. Repair costs were estimated at $600. ...just not worth it.

I called Philips Tech support and they said that all it needed was a software update! Go to www.philips.com/support, click on software/drivers, then download the update to an COMPLETELY EMPTY memory stick. It's going to be a zipped file, so after the download, unzip it on the memory stick and remove the stick from the computer. Make sure the TV is OFF and insert the memory stick into the USB port. Turn the TV on and the update should start automatically. It didn't work for me the first time, it took me a couple times repeating the whole process, but it finally worked and my problem was solved!!
