If you used the CD to load the drivers for your printer, in the lower right corner of your monitor you should see some small icons. One is the HP Status Indicator icon. When you touch the icons, they pop a little title box that tells you what it is.
Once you find your status indicator, double click on it. A control panel of sorts should pop up and ink functions should be there.
Yes!!! This is definately compatible, even Microsoft has drivers on their website for this printer. If you are upgrading to windows 7, then i give the go ahead, it is worth it!!!

you need to unplug it from the computer, insert the cd that came with it in the computer and install the software and drivers, only plugging in the printer to the computer when the software installation prompts you to. Then follow the instructions onscreen.

That the plugs are all attached, to the computer, the wall etc [has the cat/dog walked passed and pulled the plug out.?] Does another item work in the wall plug. Have you reloaded the software.?
