Recently got our Arris TG862 gateway and are trying to use our D-Link DIR-850L as the router. I experience slight lag problems all the time. I wanna know if there's a way to fix this

How I have solved my problem with the wired computer to a DIR-635 router:
- downloaded latest firmware from ftp.dlink.de/dir-635/driver_software (as posted here before)
- reset the router ( keep just the power cable connected to the router, press the reset button and switch off/on while holding the reset button pressed, off/on again with reset pushed down, release reset button, connect LAN cable between PC and router, access router 192.168.0.1 and all the configuration using the wizards)
- while configurating your Internet connection (I have the wizard option) it is important to use the option "clone MAC address from your PC", the one you used to connect direct to the cable modem.
- Follow next common steps to configurate your wireless network, etc.
Right now I'm having my PC wired to the router plus three other desktops via wireless and a wireless Canon printer.
Everything is working fine, no network drop, no internet drop. Perfect as it used to be.

I'd try doing a power cycle. Power off all the equipment. Plug in the Modem untill the online light is solid, then plug in the router, then i'd turn on your laptop.
Ensure that your connecting to the right network. Under the network settings the SSID is your Network name. Make sure it's not a generic name.
If you have a cable provider, you can just bring it to Geek Squad. They'll setup the router and setup all the security features in the store within about 10-15minutes.

- Logon to the config page of your router.
- Go to Advanced tab and select Firewall Settings at the left side
- Uncheck all the boxes under the Application Level Gateway and Save settings.

Try to reset the router first by pressing the reset button at the back of the router for 20 seconds then power cycle it by unplugging the power for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Here's how to set it up
1. You don't need to use the setup CD that came with it.
2. Make sure you have the proper physical connection
3. From your modem, connect the ethernet to the Internet/WAN port of the Dlink, then your computer to port # 1.
4. Do a power cycle. Unplug power to router and modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Power on the modem first, wait for all the lights to steady then power on the router. You should be all set

Possibly better without an ether net cord? The TG is from wow! as well, if that makes any difference or not. If it does work well with ether net cord, that's no problem, but was curious about if there was a way without a cord.
