This is a common problem with hard water.

Preheat the water by running the hot water in the sink before starting dishwasher, The hot water works better. Make sure that the water heater is set to proper temperature. Avoid doing dishes right after showers etc.

Add additional detergent. Additional detergent compensates for the hard water. We use to have phosphate in the soap to compensate for the hard water. Now we use twice as much water, energy for hot water. and soap and get lousy results.

glasses covered with a film. i add salt when light - 26151997-5qhlk13cfml2v0s4x2rfbva1-5-0.jpg Check the output of your water softener. There may be an additional treatment available to compensate the water used in the dishwasher. Usually late winter the water is at its worst for hardness.

Hope this helps?

Dishwasher using up salt way too quickly

Hey Oliver,

Please check the cover has a seal and is fitted correctly on the salt dispenser. Make sure the cap is screwed on tightly ;-)

It is important to set the water hardness - the water softener should be adjusted according to the hardness of the water in your area. The factory setting is for average water hardness, you may need to change this.

We have a new dishwasher, and we have a heavy white film on glassware and plastic glasses in the upper tray after use. What is the cause and what is the solution?

Its sounds as though your water harness is very high.
You have to add salt into the salt dispenser and set the machine for the "hardness" value in your area.
Your water company can tell you how hard the water is.
With the correct setting on the machine it will release salt to soften the water.
The salt you need is not cooking salt but one for a dishwasher available from supermarket.

Edu science 600x microscope: no instruction manual and I cannot see anything through the lens (only a blurred blue light). What must I do to be able to see something ? Thx

Well I have the instruction manual, but it is not too helpful. When I was a child I put fleas and ants on the slides, but I guess this microscope is different. Here is what my manual says.
How to make a prepared slide: If the given sample is not thin and transparent, it cannot be observed by the microscope as the light from the reflector or the light source does not pass through it. Fibers, pollen, wool, or salt can be observed easily and a cover glass is optional. Clear samples are stained first with a drop or 2 of methylene blue, Eosin or other dying solutions (not included).
1. TEMPORARY MOUNT: Wipe the slide and cover glass clean. Slice a thin sample with the micro-slicer (blade is very sharp...adult supervision). Pick up the sample with tweezers and put it on the center part of the glass slide. Put one drop of water on the sample using the needle that came with your kit.
2.PERMANENT MOUNT:Proceed as above, however, before covering the slide with the cover glass, add a few drops of gum media (not included, available at the store) or Canada balsam solution or transparent adhesive glue with a disecting needle to the slide. Push down on the cover glass with the tweezers to fix it in place and leave to dry for a day.
VIEWING LIVE BRINE SHRIMP:
1.Pour a small amout of brine shrimp eggs into the petri dish.
2.Add enough water so that the eggs are submerged and add just a dash of table salt.
3.Place the petri dish in a well lit area (under a lamp with a 60 watt bulb is good, for 24 hours).
4. When you see movement in the petri dish place it on your microscope stage, turn on the light and watch the brine shrimp in action.

White film on glasses. Cannot find solution,

Check water quality. clean the drain filter in the machine. Check spray arm spray jet holes. Clean if clogged.

If you suspect salt chamber try removing all the salt by flushing with water externally. Refill with fresh salt.

Wash the dishes by hand and view them again 1 hour later. If the dishes are still cloudy it's too late you have been running in hard water for years and etched the dishes. Salt only regenerates the Xeolite beads inside the DW. They collect minerals until they can no longer hold more, then the DW washes the minerals off the beads with the salt. Check if the DW is set correctly to the appropriate water hardness of your town. READ THE OWNERS MANUAL. PS> 1. You can't use regular salt. 2. Is the salt dry? Salt must be added into water so it creates solution (brine).
