Try google ---www.sewing-machines.blogspot.com.au as there is information as to the history of necchi machines
they were originally made in Italy to exacting standards and in 1950 an zigzag model was introduced
starting with the lydia model the machine started using plastic in the cam and other components so if yours has plastic inside, it is after 1950
there is another site-- www.geocities.com/lamx --that has a necchi collection so you may get information from there as well
I found sites after typing in --year of manufacture of necchi 537l sewing machine --so if you navigate around all the available sites you may get what you are after

SOURCE: New belt for Necchi Lelia 513-

Hi. I hear such wonderful things about these Italian-made Necchi! Here are a couple of places you should be able to find your belt:

http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/sewing-machine-belts.aspx

Guy Baker at http://www.sewingmachineparts.net/ always seems to have (or be able to get) just about anything.

http://www.sew4less.com/category/43/Belts_Motor_and_Timing

and, finally: http://sewing-machine-parts-store.com/list.asp?subcat=Belts

Hope this helps!

Happy Sewing!

SOURCE: Singer Samba 6 sewing machine

It would be wise to have the machine cleaned & serviced. Do you have a manual for it? Did it come with oil at one time? I found a free manual at
http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/singer/7442.html

You have to register (free)...choose to skip the popups (2)...and you can save the manual to your hard drive.

I checked the manual...you don't need to oil the machine...but page 61-63 shows cleaning...and it's basic. You take the two screws from the throat plate, remove the bobbin case & brush the inside of the machine bed out...I use a small artists plastic bristle brush, or a small childs tooth brush.

Hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Hi, thanks a lot. I don't know if it came with the oil, we assumed that it maybe needs oil (my father knew this from the old machines ;-) ) Again thank you very much for your quick answer!"

Necchi 4575 Sewing Machine. It has whirl noise but no movement.

Question edited for clarity and all the typos.
Question moved from Televisions to make model category.

The whirling noise is the motor. It may be that the drive belt has broken?

When was the last time it was professionally cleaned, serviced and timed? With moderate use, they need doing every 2 to 3 years. The inside workings of sewing machines are very tough and seldom 'break'.

NECCHI 537l manual & thread guide

You can purchase a copy of the Necchi 537L manual as either a PDF download or a printed manual here: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-manual-necchi-537-l.aspx? . There are several online guides for threading Necchi machines. These may help. However I don't know how different the leather and lace 537 is from other Necchi machines. The manual will have the threading diagrams.

I hope this helps .

On necchi model 537L which buttons are for stitch length

It is generally the large knob on the right side about halfway between the top and bottom of the machine. The numbers should range from zero to 4 or 5. Zero is zero stitch length, five would be the largest stitch length.

Question about Necchi 537 FA

necchi's are good sewing machines, I personally own 2 necchi's,
and I've never had any problems with them and I've had them for around 10 years, here is what I suggest
use a new needle--one that is for the fabric your sewing
rethread the machine top and bobbin--use every thread guide
try a different bobbin
clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint
call a sewing machine repair shop in your area and ask them how
much a necchi sewing machine is worth or check on ebay and see
what they are selling for.
since you inherited the sewing machine,, having the machine
serviced completely would be a good idea, that way they can check
to see if the grease and oil that the gears and parts use is fresh or
needs to be replaced and it's very important the grease and oil are in
good condition.
and they can make sure the machine's is timed correctly
ask how much a tune up cost for a sewing machine and then
you'll have to decide if the price is what you want to pay.

also since the sewing machine is doing repeat loops from the bobbin
adjust the top thread tension just a little at a time till the stitch looks
normal on a scrap piece of fabric
if you don't have a manual on the sewing machine let me know & I'll try
to find you one.
I've been sewing for 30 years, and like I said I have 2 necchi's already
and I had one other one before these 2 that I have now and it lasted me
for around 15 years and I wore it out making clothes.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy or except another necchi because I know
they are good machines.
I have a mechanical and a electronic necchi and my husband uses the
electronic one when he makes quilts.
good luck on your decision

Was given a Necchi Mirella and need the belt to the motor. Part #? Leads to where I can find one.

Hi! You've got a great machine there! The folks that have them think those older Italian-made sewing machines are the best ever made. Here are a couple of places to look at for your belt: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/necchi-sewing-machine-parts-model-list.aspx
http://www.sewingstyle.com/Necchi-Sewing-Machine-Parts.html
http://www.statewidesewing.com/#FAQ
If you need a manual, try http://www.sewingstyle.com/Necchi-Sewing-Manuals.html
There's a Yahoo users group dedicated to the Italian made Necchis--they have a lot of good information about how to care for your new baby so you might take a look.
Let me know if this helps, ok?
Happy Sewing!

Tension trobleshooting

The proper tension for the 537 is between 4-6. You need to make sure that your presser foot is in the up position before threading.
