What wire harness did you unplug? If you left the key on and the jump the selenoid switch and it started then your key switch should be ok.. I'd change the starter switch..which is what they call them on that year.. I've a 95' Ford Aerostar that was doing the same thing few years back.
AS YOU HAVE CHANGED ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS TO NO AVAIL IT HAS TO BE A BREAK IN THE WIREING ITSELF, YOU WILL HAVE TO FOLLOW THE WIREING WITH A MULTI METER TO FIND WHERE THE POWER IS LOST.
You can put a fuse or a wire jumping across the safety switch under the seat. This is the most common fix you will find for a faulty safety switch.
Do NOT do this if children will be around you while you mow or if you let a younger person drive the tractor! That could result in death or serious injury if they got off of the mower while the unit was still in motion.
clean and tighten all connections from the positive cable all the way to the starter and selenoid connections too and try jumping the selenoid across and see if that kicks the starter over if it does that means the selenoid is bad
Sounds like you could have a faulty switch, but I would check the starter selenoid first. Sometimes when the selenoid goes bad it will behave in the way you describe. If, with your key in the on position, (not on start), you can jump power from the hot wire, (positive), post on your selenoid to the hot wire that goes from the selenoid to the starter and the starter then engages, but doesn't otherwise, it is a selenoid problem. Good Luck! I hope you find this very helpful!
do you have power to the solenoid?? with the key on there should be 12 volts on one side of the solenoid then when you turn the key to start it should send 12 volts out the other side to the starter
