Sorry, but welcome to the world of highly efficient, component-critical switching power supplies.
These are all of those things and the failure often is related to a specific type of component, an electrolytic capacitor.
These are chemical devices and cheap ones fail easily, the most expensive take little longer but the primary value shrinks while the losses climb until the part cannot do what it should any more.
The main power supply is probably at
fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments,
you will not be able to do the repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it
stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a
separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core
(no laminations as with a line-frequency part) transformer on it and several
larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.
Before touching anything inside, especially on
that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold
a painful voltage charge for some hours.
If you see signs of overheating such as
discoloration of the board material, it may not be repairable but if you can
find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply and
install it yourself but it will likely have the same problem eventually unless
they have altered the design.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board,
there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of
repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the
power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable
of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an overload.

Change bloated caps on power supply pcb. You'll see them clear. That's should be it!
$10,00 for parts+ couple hours of labor and, you good to go!
95%. If you won't find any bloated caps, relax, it's time to get a new signal/main board. Can't fix those! Only replacement. Used one is ok.
My last case was a similar, 50" Samsung lcd panel with 4 1,000.00 mfd/16v.
good luck.!

I had the same problem. The power supply had a bad capacitor on the 5.3V output. The value of the cap is 2200uF / 10V. The top of the cap was swelled. With the cap changed the TV now turns on again. I hope this helps.

The lamp is finished. Order a new lamp using the code on the side of the TV. Remove the lamp door on the back of the TV (4 screws) and then remove the lamp (1 screw). Have a look at the lamp... is it damaged? See my tips & tricks if you want to learn more about the lamp.

You need some capacitors changed on your power supply. Easy job if you can use a soldering iron. I have a tutorial in my Tips & tricks. Remove the rear cover and locate the bad capacitors (little plastic wrapped canisters with swollen tops) near the top right of the tan PCB board on the left-mid side of the TV. Note the values written on then (1000uf or 2200uf) then head to radio shack and purchase the replacement parts. Ask for 16v or 25v parts (16v fit better). Replace the parts, put the rear cover back on and you are all set. I hope this was helpful.
