That sounds about right, using Wi Fi does use a lot of battery. For video, Apple advertises up to 5 hours, and for audio up to 36 hours. However, these are done in minimalist conditions. For example, they?d have auto-brightness turned on, the volume at only a certain level and, if it?s music, they?d turn the screen on only when absolutely necessary (yes, volume does have an impact on the battery).
I used to get around 12 hours listening to music, but that was because I always have Wi Fi on, and also have it set to fetch my email every 15 minutes. Oddly, since jailbreaking, it took me about 20 hours to completely drain the battery. That included using the internet (mainly Facebook) quite a bit, checking emails, listening to music, watching videos, AND playing games (well, emulators).

Ipod won't power on. Computer won't recognize it.

Step 1: Check to see if your iPod can still be charged by charging it using a wall charger and wait for it to fully recharge.
Step 2: If it does charge fully, try using your iPod normally and see how long it lasts. If it lasts for only 2 hours, your iPod battery may be dying. If it doesn't charge at all your iPod may be dead.
Step 3: If either of the cases are true then you have two options:
  1. If your iPod is less than a year old, you can bring in your iPod to the Apple Store and have it replaced for free on the spot as part of its 1 year warranty.
  2. If it is older than 1 year, you can go to the Apple Store and have them replace the battery for a fee
  3. If you are looking for a new iPod anyway, go to the Apple Store with your old iPod, and tell them you are looking for a new iPod. They will give you a 10% discount when you hand your old one in.

My Altec Lansing Inmotion used to charge my Ipod Touch, but since yesterdag (after not using it for 3 weeks) it won't charge my Ipod anymore. The Altec charges itself, but somehow the Ipod doesn't. It is...

That is a tough one. Is your iPod fully seated -- will it play music in the im600? Have you tried a different iPod in the im600 to see if it charges? Does your iPod recharge normally in other players, in a wall charger and your computer? If not, your iPod could possibly need a new battery.
Also: since it was unplugged for 3 weeks, you may just need to run the im600 through a full cycle or two (let the FM radio play until the battery is dead, with no iPod in it), then recharge the im600 for 5 or 6 hours, and THEN mount your iPod into it and see if it charges it. Be sure to unplug/plug-in the adapter into the im600 to ensure it is getting full power from the wall outlet. One last thing: the im600 will only charge the iPod when it is plugged into AC power; it won't charge the iPod while it's running on its own battery power. Good luck!

Ipod will fully charge but only lasts a short time. whats wrong?

My little brother gave me his ipod shuffle for the same reason, saying the battery was dying and would only play for half an hour after a full night's charge. However, I went ahead and gave it a shot anyway and it always lasts for several hours (long enough that it's never died, so I don't know an actual time).

Anyway, it turned out to be a usb hardware problem. His old computer wasn't built to charge via usb, so the ipod would take what little it could and flop five songs later. I don't know what kind of hardware you're running, but perhaps you could try plugging it into a different computer and seeing if that chnges things?

I would also recommend looking into wall chargers, if that is the case. Otherwise the convenience factor kinda goes out the window.

Fully Charged and only lasts an hour

Your battery is probaby running out of power faster because of the iPods ae. You can either bring it to and Apple store and have it fixed or send it to them. There are also repairmen around that should be able to do it for you. There also is a site called ifixit.com which will sell u the new battery and tell you how to replace it but beware THIS VOIDS YOUR WARRENTY! It also has the chance of you doing something wrong and breaking it even more... So my suggestion is to send it to Apple or get it fixed by a certified Apple technician.

Is the new battery fully charged? Usually it takes 6 hours on a new battery.

IPod mini battery dies when nearly fully charged, often while skipping songs.

iPod batteries are cheap on ebay...like $5...and come with installation instructions. Try installing a new battery and see what happens...?
