When TV is turned on, screen comes on for a second before going all black. In the second that it comes on, 1/4 of the screen vertically is still black, 3/4th can be seen. Sound is there and remote seems to work. Although no picture after the first second. Please help!

sounds like the Backlight has failed, if you look closely at the screen you should be able to see the image changing, but as there is no back light there is no luminescense so it will appear black or grey, It is probably the backlight inverter or element that has failed, if this is within warrany organise with them to fix it for free,

also check the power cord wire coming from the back of the tv is loose from the tv side or perfect.

Capacitors on the power pack are going bad they need to be replaced that should fix the problem.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.

This is inverter or backlighting problem. Can you try switching it on and off quickly for a couple of times and tell me if these '2 seconds' get any longer'. If picture stays longer and longer before shutting down, one lamp needs replaced-if not, please replace inverter board
