How can I find the model year and type my Kindle D00901 is?

I need to update it Cindy, Normally you just go to the kindle store and down load your updates for specified model. Attached links will explain how to update your Kindle and what update you may need.

Contact Amazon. If you didn't have any warranty attached to it, they will replace it for a cost. With mine it was £40. (Device was worth £90 at the time)

Your kindle has a sim card installed for 3G (lifetime licence paid by amazon and paid for on purchase price on the unit) but that is not related to the wi-fi function on your kindle. Your wi-fi service needs to be logged in to with the same password as you use to log any computer on to your router when at home or whatever wi-fi password is required when elsewhere (e.g a bus, train or restaurant).

Kindle help desk is always best place to go. They can help you get a printable list or probably a way to download it to your PC.

If your Kindle presents some horizontal or vertical lines in part of the screen, or even in full screen, and if the image is kind of "vaporous", not bright, it might have happened that you have a broken display (maybe due to pressure exerted on it, by something inside your bag, backpack or wherever you carry your Kindle). If that is the case, you can buy a new display from Ali Express and replace it following the disassembling instructions shown at

If you do not want to do it on your own, take the display and the instructions provided in the link indicated to a service technician that you trust and have it replaced (I had the same problem with my kindle 3 and replaced its display in less than an hour - it is not that difficult...).
