Please double check that you're not inserting the bowl backwards. If this is not the case, you might have to disassemble and then reassemble your machine prior to attempting to insert the bowl again. Also, you might add some oil to the glass bowl to help it slide under the plastic stand holders.
The glass bowl for the 4c mixer is much different than the bowls that are currently available. Your best option is going to be to find a used bowl off of eBay.
Your other option would be to replace the bowl lock plate and buy a new bowl for the mixer. I have had a few customers say this works, and I have had a couple say that replacing the bowl lock plate and bowl did not work. So you can give this a try as well.
The serial number for all KitchenAid mixers is located under the base of the mixer. You will need to carefully tilt the mixer over, and underneath the mixer you will find a label with the model number and serial number.
Some might say that this is OK, because it can be a bear sometimes to unlock it from it's mixing position, but I am thinking that is not the case here. First do you use a glass or metal bowl. if you use a glass bowl you have a grey mounting screw on the bottom of it that can come loose, if so tighten it up and you should be right as rain, if you are using a metal bowl then it is one of two things, first the bowl has been damaged in such a way that it does not fully engage the mounting cup / plate on the base of the mixer or the mounting plate has taken the damage, look at it carefully to see where the damage is, if it is in the mounting cup on the base it's easy to fix and inexpensive, if it is on the bowl then it's a new bowl and that can be 50-60 bucks for a new bowl. let us know if this helped, if not try to be more specific. Don't be insulted but you may not be locking the bowl in place all the way either. happens to me all the time when I am baking, I don't turn it all the way in.
