I need to replace the horizontal spool pin (it is broken and I have a new one). I need to get the old one off. It is integrated with the handle of the machine. Thanks anyway.

You'll most likely need to open the top of your machine, although some machine spool pins can be accessed from the outside. Some spool pins push in, others skrew in. It will depend on your machine's make & model. Search the internet for:

Make + Model + the words "spool pin"

It should show spool pins that are compatible with your machine.

Or you can contact Brother directly.

What causes thread shredding/breakage on the top part of the machine? I guess near or on the tension? I have a Brother Quattro.

If you're using the horizontal spool pin, be sure the spool is inserted onto the spool pin in the proper orientation. Per the manual; Set the thread spool on the spool pin so that the thread unwinds from the front of the spool.

Horizontal spools require the spool cap be equal or greater in size than the spool diameter. Using a smaller cap may result in the thread snagging on the spool edge.

Be sure to follow threading instructions exactly.

Always try different manufacturer thread to eliminate the possibility of weak or bad thread.

How to remove broken horizontal spool pin of Singer Sewing machine model 6550 and replace with new spool pin?

It appears to be just "hooked" on according to the photo, and you can get the replacement part for $4.00 using this link: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/spool-pin-singer-3709-sewing-machine.aspx.

However, before you go to all that trouble, you can also just use the auxiliary spool pin used for twin needle sewing which came with your machine but can be purchased from the same site for about the same price.

I don't use either -- I just put the spool in a cup behind the machine and thread from there. See? One way or another, you're back in business!

How do you get the spool pin to an upright position on a New Home HF3000?

If the spool pin is meant to be in an upright position, it would simply flip up. However, some machines have spool pins that are horizontal and are meant to be used in that position.

Bernina artista 180 bottom stitch bunching

bunching under the material is bird nesting is a result of loose needle thread tension thread the machine up to the point of threading the needle
pull on the thread and you should have a reasonable resistance to pulling the thread
adjust the tension until you get that then thread the needle
while you may be using the tension settings if there is a problem in the tension plates area , the tension will not get high enough regardless of the indicated setting
bobbin tension can be reasonably loose
correct tension is when both threads meet at the center of the materials being sewn

How do you replace the spool pin on a babylock ellure sewing machine

Place the cone of thread on your right, at the back of the machine. Bring the thread up and behind the bobbin winder spindle. (where the bobbin sits) Place the largest spool cap on the empty horizontal spool pin and take the thread through the hole of the spool cap. From this point thread the machine normally. This and many other common questions are found on this link click here http://www.babylock.com/support/FAQ/?FAQ=2 If you have any further questions message me back Thanks Rick

I have a husqvarna Designer SE. After embroidering for a while the thread gets jammed in the bobbin area and makes a big clumped up mess. What's causing this? All I can do is squeeze my scissors under...

Most likely the thread is riding up and out of the tension disks. Look for the small, round opening in the pre-tensioner. It is the metal piece to the left of the horizontal spool pin. If the thread is on the horz spool pin, it will travel in the rounded opening. If the thread is fed in higher up, it can ride up higher in the pre-tensioner, causing it to not be pinched by the pretension spring and it may ride up and over the top of the tension disks. If this is a possibility, rotate the horizontal spool pin out toward you. Place a spool cap on it and feed the thread around it on the right side and below so the thread feeds into the pre-tensioner horizontally and I think that your problem will go away.
The only reason for this to happen is that you are loosing the upper tension for some reason so if my suggestion doesn't work continue to look at the upper tension assembly and the takeup lever.
