Why would my GE (model # TBX18SA) just stop making ice?

Ice Maker Doesn't Turn Off If your ice maker keeps making ice, even when it is full:
1Lift the bail wireto shut off the ice maker, and remove the ice bin. Then, using a screwdriver if necessary, remove the ice maker, clean it thoroughly, and then reinstall it.
2If the problem persists,consider removing and replace the entire ice maker and valve. With this type of problem, you can have it repaired, but it's often wiser and less expensive in the long run to replace the unit entirely.

You will need to replace the "ice control thermistor" on the unit. Here is the part to order. The ice control is number 320 on this diagram.

There should be a metal wire that hangs over the drawer. When the drawer is full, the wire flips up and shuts off the ice maker. You have to manually lower the wire back down to restart the ice maker. It sounds like yours is hung up, missing or broken. Have you checked this?

You can test the ice maker by filling the tray with tap water. If the water freezes aand then drops the ice then the water control on the back of your refrigerator is the reason. You have a stuck micro switch in the ice maker. Try taking out the maker and remove the metal plate 4 screws and you will see the switch that work on a cam rod. I believe you will find your problem. BB

my ge refrigerator stop making ice a week ago, water dispenser still works.

Is the icemaker producing ice and it's just not coming through the door? Or is the icemaker not even producing ice???
