A few things may cause this. it sounds like it is starving for fuel. the spark plug may be breaking down when it gets hot. try a new spark plug. if the fuel and fuel lines are in bad shape, old, soft or hard. the fuel don't smell right. fuel filter plugged up. the carburetor may need to be cleaned and a rebuild kit as they are cheap. if it is 30 years old. be sure the fuel lines, filter and carburetor are in good shape. hope this gives you an idea on where to start. good luck

JCB M25 strimmer, bought second hand does anyone know the fuel mix ratio please ?

TO MIX THE FUELSee Figure 3.? The product is powered by a 2-stroke engine and requires pre-mixing petrol with2-stroke oil. Pre-mix unleaded petrol and 2-stroke engine oil in a clean containerapproved for petrol.? The engine is certified to operate on unleaded petrol intended for automotive usewith an octane rating of 91 ([R+M]/2) or higher.? Do not use any type of pre-mixed petrol/oil from fuel service stations, such asthe pre-mixed petrol/oil intended for use in mopeds, motorcycles, etc. Do not useautomotive oil or 2-stroke outboard oil.? Use only synthetic 2-stroke oil.? Mix 2% of synthetic 2-stroke oil into the petrol. This is a 50:1 ratio

Does this engine require mix gas?

Peter
you are too short on details like make model , 2 stroke or 4 stroke
read your user manual or look on the petrol cap as most have the ratio on the bowser emblem
so for an answer, it is most likely a 2 stroke and so-- yes-- it will require a oil/fuel mix in the tank
if you do not know it , start with a ratio of 40:1 ( 40 fuel -1 oil) and only use 2 stroke oil not normal engine oil
run at rpms and there should be a trace of blue smoke
too much smoke cut the oil back to 50:1 and no smoke increase the oil to 30:1
go google and type in user manual for ( make and model ) --and the ratio will be in that print put

Bought it at local, start alright with petrol. When try with 2 Stroke RYOBI Synthetic Oil hard to start. Should i just use normal petrol oil?

no --- 2 strokes use a special 2 stroke oil ==not ordinary engine oil==
the difference is that the 2 stroke oil is specially blended to mix with petrol and will not block up the fine jets in the carby
it also "sticks " more readily to the metal components in the engine thus preventing wear
as a point of interest most small engines do not like E mix fuels either
so for trouble free operation --2 stroke oil mixed in the correct ratio with either 89 or 91 octane petrol and it will start first pull every time
use the primer bulb sparingly or the choke until it fores

How critical is the oil/petrol mix ratio in terms of starting and maintaining engine running for a McCulloch 2 stroke chain saw?

All the lubrication for the engine comes from the oil mixed with the fuel, so it is VERY important that you use good quaility two stroke oil designed to be used in a chainsaw, and mixed as per the manufacturers recommendations, if you are not too sure then run a 25.1 fuel oil mix, if the egine lacks lubrication the piston will start to scuff around the exhaust port ( the hottest part of the engine ) lose compression and become difficult or impossible to start. A quick check is to remove the muffler and take a look at the piston skirt through the open exhaust port.

I have an old craftsman snowblower. It is a pullstart. I inherited this from my father. He did not have the manual.. wondering if I could find how much gas to oil mix and if it is a 2 cycle or 4 cycle...

The way to tell if it's 2 or 4 stroke is, if it has seperate tanks for the oil and petrol then it would be 4 stroke. I know that's not entirely true in today's world but up to recently it was. If it's 2 stroke then you need to mix the petrol with 2 stroke oil. Unless someone knows the right mix ratio I would start off with a rich mixture of 25:1 and see how it goes. If it's giving off a lot of smoke I'd reduce the oil a little to 30:1. It should be ok with this ratio. Use good quality 2 stroke oil e.g. Husqvarna or Stihl as some of the cheaper oils available at car service stations are not as good at protecting machinery.

I want to check if a makita rbc 230 brush wood cutter runs on petrol (neat) or two stroke mixture

I think the model your speaking of is the RBC30. It is a 2 stroke mixture. The 430 models are 4 stroke and do not require mixing oil and fuel. They are made by Ryobi for Makita.

Here is the RBC 30

RBC30SESA
  • Powerful 30cc 2-Stroke Petrol Engine
  • Easy-Start Carburettor
  • Expand-It™ Attachments Compatible
  • 18"/46cm Cutting Path Width
  • 2 Year Domestic Warranty
Info on the 430

RYRBC430SES
  • New 4 Stroke Design
  • Light in Weight 7.3kg
  • Safe Anti-kick Feature
  • Reduced Noise Levels, Lower Emissions
  • 2 Year Warranty
This is pretty much the entire line up of their brush cutters:

There is not a 230 model.
