The remote (most of them in fact) have only about 50 possible codes built into them. Either research for another remote or stick with the original one for the receiver--been there and done that myself.

For Time Warner Cable digital remote controls to work with your 42" LG HDTV, do the following:

1. Press "TV" and "OK" simultaneously for 3 seconds, until the button "tv" light on the remote is on.

2. Enter the TV code. In this case, it's "113". With the right code, your component will turn off. Quickly press the power button on your digital cable remote to turn it back on. Press the "TV" button again so that the remote saves that code.

3. You should be done.

i bot a new tv i don't have the book for the time warner remote so i don't know how to program it to work the tv it only works cable box

I made mine work by using programing the vcr button as opposed to the tv.

What you need to do is contact the manufacturer of either your remote control otherwise the manufacturer of the Time Warner [aka: cable providers some times also have the info on file for their customers] they store the code information within their internal systems for their customers such as yourself. Otherwise there is normally a paper insert with the remote control or the Time Warner that would list the info for select manufacturers on there. Toshiba has pretty universal IR signals/codes so you should be okay when trying to program in the codes. The manufacturers can also assist you through the steps--believe me it can get frustrating some times!

I'm sorry to say that some TV's just plain don't work with a universal remote. If you have used all the codes that came with the remote, contact Time Warner support and tell them.

Unfortunatly the codes are not the TV's they are the Remotes, so unless Time Warner has a code that works or can walk you through the SCAN process successfully you might not be able to use it.
