How do I retrieve the starter bolt that fell in the starter hole

I LOOKED AND SEE BLACK WIRES ONLY AND COB WEBS

Is the hole where the antenna fell in large enough to insert something into it? i got a bolt out of inside the body with a magnet that was on a shaft the size if a small pencil. It took a bit of fishing but I got it.

On a 2006 1200 Sportster I had to

1. Take off the seat
2. Take out the battery
3. Take out the battery case
4. Remove all the dirt from the starter and around the starter. Compressed air works pretty well for this.
5. Take the battery wire off the starter solenoid (attached to the starter)
6. Take the starter switch wire off the starter solenoid
7. Find your magnetic pick up tool
8. Loosen the two bolts that hold the starter
9. Take the two bolts out with the pick up tool real close to the bolts. At this point a dropped washer is going to be real hard to find and retrieve.
10. Lift the starter out

It should be pretty similar to the procedure I used on a 2006 1200 Sportster:

1. Take off the seat

Replacement is the reverse

Hi. First you need to try and establish why it came loose if possible. Best solution is to remove the bolt and inspect the bolt threads to see if they look damaged or stripped. If they look ok wind it back in and try to feel if it winds in smoothly and tightens up properly. If it is very tight as you wind it in or slips when tightening then you may have stripped/ damaged threads in the bolt hole. If it goes in and tightens ok then you can pull it back out and put a small drop of thread lock on the tip of the threads(local motorist store will sell it). don't put more than a drop on or next time you need it out you will struggle and finally check the other bolts for the starter. what do u mean fell in then starter hole

Have you tried using thread locker locktite will hold it in there.

If its a pin, the key fell out, if it's a bolt, replace the nut with a nylock one.

Your gonna need an "Easyout" tool to get this out.

1. First drill a hole in the sheared stub. The bigger hole the better
2. When you drill just a few millimeters into the sheared stub.
3. Now take your easy out bit and see if the tip of the Easyout touches the bottom of the hole. It is important that the Easyout bit clear the bottom with ease.
4. Use a little bolt buster as you proceed.
5. So now put the Easyout bit in the hole on your sheared stud and tap it with a hammer to set the bit in the hole.
6. Now put a crescent wrench on the end and turn it left and out. It will make a cracking sound when it gives. This is normal.
7. Should come out easy after the initial breaking loose.

DID YOU TAKE THE TOP COVER OFF THE MOTOR? AND THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY THE STARTER GOES OTHERWISE IT HITS THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE.. i REPLACED MY STARTER FEW MONTHS AGO.. tHE STARTER WIRE HAS TO BE ON THE OUTSIDE TOWARDS THE OUTSIDE BODY....
