Install a brand new needle (make sure it is installed correctly).
Remove the thread. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning making sure the thread path is correct.
Verify the bobbin has been inserted in the bobbin case correctly and the bobbin case has been threaded properly.
Have at least 4-6" of thread tail on both threads.
Retest.

If it is still not picking up the thread, then the needle/hook timing may be off and should be serviced by a technician.

I have a janome memory craft 350E, when I embroider it is pulling the bobbin thread through to the right side, I have changed the tension but it is still doing it. Can you help please

I suspect the bobbin thread has escaped its tension spring. If you give the bobbin thread a quick short tug and the bobbin spool spins then likely the thread is not behind the tension spring. This usually causes hook jam but not always.

First be sure you have threaded per machine instructions... see below.

Next turn handwheel and position needle at the high point of stroke (always when loading bobbin). Remove and re-insert bobbin. Now, to be sure the bobbin thread is fully positioned behind the tension spring, before you move the bobbin thread into the notch, place your right index finger on top of the bobbin spool to prevent the bobbin spool from turning. Hold thread snugly (in slight tension) as you move it towards the back of the notch. You should feel the thread slide in place behind the spring. Let loose the spool and lightly pull thread. Note the resulting change in tension. (don't forget to set top thread tension back to a more normal setting)

Comment here if you require further assistance.

Janome 350E will not pull up the bobbin thread during operation. re-threaded the bobbin top thread, replaced needle, changed threads, changed designs.

Try a brand new needle. If that doesn't help, then it's quite possible the machine has been knocked out of time. Search for "sewing machine timing" or take it for service.

SIMILAR PROBLEM OF TOP THREAD ACCUMULATING IN BOBBIN AREA

it sounds like a needle threading problem. if you have the instruction book, pull yout needle thread off the machine and re-thread as per the book ie presser foot up and make sure thread goes betwen tension discs and up over takeup lever.

to check needle tension is ok, lower presser foot and pull needle thread through needle, the needle thread should be tight enough to bend the needle a little.

goodluck,

scott.

Janome Sew Mini bobbin problem

Hi, Usually wrap-ups in the bobbin area are caused by the lack of tension on the top thread. The slack arm ( shinny lever that moves up and down while sewing) has to pull the loop around the bobbin case and it does so only if the tension on the top thread is sufficient to keep it from pulling more thread of the spool.
Try this: Thread the top of the machine all the way just short of the needle eye. When the presser foot is up the thread should pull through easily. Now drop the presser foot (this closes the tension discs) and pull the tread while adjusting the upper tension control.
If everything is working correctly you should feel the drag on the thread change if not something is keeping the discs from closing.
Most Janomes aren't too difficult to remove the nose cover, usually just one screw and you can get a look at the thread path. Look for thread wrapped around the mechanism.
Sorry, no easy answer but I hope this helps.

Threading a sewing machine

What do you mean you are unable to pull the bobbin thread through, elaboration would help solve the problem...
I suspect I'm having the same problem with you if it's anything to do with the top thread looping around in the bobbin holder.

Damn machine!
