The motor is overloaded and shuts off before it destroys the motor. It may be too late for the motor you have if has done it several times.

How to fix E03 for a Superfit treadmill

I think I had something similar happen. It may be that your motor drive is overheated. If you smell burning from the motor stop immediately. You might just need to make sure this is properly lubricated.

Inconsistent Speeds and Motor Smell

A new treadmill is in order! It sounds like the motor is either old, or it has a factory default. Definitely do not use the treadmill if it produces burning smells this is in fact the wires in the motor heating up and melting this could cause a fire.

Treadmill gets hot, smells then shuts down

Dear Sir:

Hello I will help you:

Please do the follow:

Burning smells are most commonly associated with the following problems: 1) Very high belt/deck friction.
2) Short in the motor.
3) Short in the wiring or electronics.
4) Literally cooking the lacquer or cardboard core (on cheap machines) in the motor from belt friction or a drive system obstruction.
Friction is the #1 cause of this problem. Many cheaper treadmills have a motor with a cardboard core (people wonder why we are so down on cheap treadmills) and if the voltage and amperage through the motor heats it up sufficiently, it begins to smolder. If this is the case, you normally have to replace the belt and the motor and inspect the deck. If the armature has cooked enough in the motor, you also have to replace the motor.

Thank you in advance, sincerely. God bless you,

If you need additional help. please reach me.

While running on treadmill I got an odor of slight motor burn out. Then i got a code of FET and the machine shut down. After ten minutes i plugged back in and it would have operated but i didn't...

hi, some treadmills you have to top up the oil in the motor just like a car. if you have the instruction booklet this will be explained. and the burning smell is normally the belt on the motor and not the motor it self. hope i have helped.

Burning smell and clicking noise from the motor area

It could be a few things, having owned a Gym, the first thing I would do if you haven't done so, is take off the cover, you may have dirt dog hair or any number of things intwined in the arpeture or belt. Next the belt may be shot and slipping thus the smell. And finally there is a solonoid that switches the speeds and possiblly another for the height adjustment , "incline", see if you can localise the click. If it's coming from the display it's a different animal. But if it's coming from the motor area, it's one of the things I mentioned or the motor is failing. Clicking sounds like there is something stuck in the pully or belt area, thus the smell, and the slipping would explain the smell. Hope this helps, I would really need to see it, if this doesn't help you, even a picture would help. Perhaps we could correspond further if you are still having problems. I had over 150 pieces on lease in my club, and at one time or another have fixed just about every make and model.

Motor has burning smell. belt and controller were

May I ask witch belt? Most treadmills have two belts, one to drive the gearing and one the patient walks/runs on. The tension and alignment are factors in the load on the motor. Too much tension on the belt the patient stands on will overload the motor. Alignment of both belts is a load factor. Eliminating the belts, tension, belt rollers, and control only power wiring and the motor is left. If the motor is the culprit call a local electric motor repair shop for testing and possible repair. Maybe cheaper than a new motor. : ) : )

The motor is making a whirring noise a bit of a smell coming out (burnt type smell)

Sounds like either the drive belt is slipping or your motor is going bad. If you see fine rubber dust on the floor or machine hood area it's the belt.
