If your problem is that your
computer is very slow and you have upgraded your memory to the maximum, then
you should concentrate on cleaning up and optimising the Windows file system. One
of the easiest methods of determining what memory your computer has and what
upgrades you can install is to go to the Crucial Memory web site and use their Crucial System Scanner Tool,
this will try to detect exactly what make and model your system is, and from
this advise both what the currently installed memory is, and show compatible
memory upgrades for your system.
Download and install the following utility programs that can help you to
improve the performance of your computer.
Advanced System Care
Free - run the Deep Care option of this utility.
DiskMax - run a
Detailed Scan and let it clean up all profiles, updates, cache etc.
Smart Defrag - run a
Defrag and Fast Optimize
CCleaner - use this to
compliment the above plus use the Tools Uninstall option to remove any unwanted
software programs, browser tool bars etc. Also use the Tools Startup option to
disable any of the programs being started on every boot that don't need to be,
i.e. things like QuickTime, Adobe Reader etc.
With notebook there are not many upgrades available, but if you are using a lot of multi-media it is savvy to increase you memory.
My suggestion is that you look to go up to 2 Gb; you should see a nice different on performances.
