It sounds like the head has been damaged. Unfortunately, there is no fix for this, as Alps stopped production of these printers years ago, and now do not offer repairs for these printers.

If you still want a dye-sub capable Alps printer, the only model available is the MD-5500, which you can find here: http://www.alps-supplies.com

Alps md driver error

Hi,

For the ALPS printers, make sure you are using Windows XP SP2 or older. There are no Win 7 drivers and there can be problems with a Win XP SP3. Join the Yahoo ALPS group. In the files section they have a full description of the problem along with a work around. It usually is a conflict with the bi-directional communication and the LPT port. The LPT port needs to be motherboard based - not an add-on card.

I hope this works.

Use the Lexmark Z600 Series Vista driver in Windows 7. First, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. From your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > right-click on Computer > click on Properties. Take note of the System Type.
Use the link below to download and install the printer driver on your computer:- Lexmark Z600 Series Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista / Win 7 32-bit- Lexmark Z600 Series Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista / Win 7 64-bit

Can our ALPS MD 1000 printer work with Windows 7? We used it when old computer had Windows XP on it, but that crashed and bought HP with Windows 7 now... we need Alps to make waterslides for custom rod...

There are NO Windows 7 drivers for the ALPS MD printer. I've read that you can run an XP virtual mode on Win7 that allows you to use the printer. If you are comfortable tweaking the OS, it's a workable option. I picked-up an old (and cheap) laptop on Craigslist and printed my decals from there.

HI, my laptop is running windows 7 and i am trying to instal an hp series 5150 printer. I have downloaded the printer drives from their webpage but nothing works. Please help me.

First, make sure that you have downloaded the correct drivers and installed them correctly. Drivers are available for two versions of Win 7, 32 Bit and 64 Bit. Click here and make the selection accordingly (32 Bit or 64 Bit).
Secondly, make sure that the printer and cable are functional and when you connect the printer to your laptop, windows detects it. If windows is able to detect the printer, it should work, otherwise the problem could be with the printer or cable.

Goodluck!
Let me know if any further clarification is required. Hope this helps! Dont forget to rate the solution!!

Alps md 1300 only prints in black

First of all, Alps MD inks do not "Dry up". They are dry to start with!

It sounds like you may be running XP, with the Microsoft driver for this printer installed. You need to load the Alps driver, which you can get by joining the alps or alpsdecal group at http://groups.yahoo.com. You can find the driver in the files section of one of the groups.
