Press and hold the power button on the monitor until it turns off. If you press and hold the button for more then 2 minutes or so and get no response, unplug it from the power source. Then press and hold the power button down for 60 seconds while it is unplugged. then plug it back in and turn it on. that should solve your problem.
sounds like your power board is going bad. you will probably need to replace it. also try unplugging it for about 20 minutes see if it turns on for longer if it doesnt then it is your power board. sorry for the bad news how that wont affect my rating
try this: unplug monitor and detach it from the PC . Then push in the monitor ON button and hold it for at least 60 seconds. Replug it and it likely/may work --you are basically resetting it.
It is probably the power supply in the monitor. Call Dell and see if they will replace it. If the cost exceeds half the price of the monitor, purchase a new one. I know you can get a 20" acer from best buy for around $99.
Do a reset: Turn the computer and monitor off. Unplug the monitor video cable from the computer and unplug the monitor power cord from the wall outlet. Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes. Plug everything back in, turn on the monitor, then start the computer. Sometimes that will work.
If you still have the same problem, try to borrow a known to be good monitor from somebody. If it works, then you know your monitor is bad.
It's also possible that your video circuitry is bad. If the monitor plugs straight into the motherboard (onboard video), then you'll need to purchase a video card and install it. Disable the onboard video first.
Try a different monitor with your PC. If it does the same thing then you know the problem is with your PC. Also connect your PC to a different monitor. If it works OK then your monitor is bad. Does it beep at startup? Describe beep codes and someone on this website will decipher them for you. This might help to diagnose the problem.
try to disconnect everything except mouse, keyboard and monitor, turn off computer, unplug power cable and turn it on again..if it wont turn on or still does the same, you need to reseat your memory modules..try using a different monitor as well or reseat monitor cable
