First, make sure the feed dogs are in the up position and NOT dropped for darning.

Second, check that the stitch length is set to at least a 2 or 2.5 to make sure the feed dogs will actually move the fabric a noticeable distance. The closer the stitch length is set to zero, the closer together the stitches will be until it will sew only in one place because the fabric will no longer advance.

The feed dogs need to move. They should actually rise, move toward the back of the machine, drop down, move forward to the position to again rise--this creates one stitch. If the fabric is not moving, then it is possible that your machine has not been cleaned and oiled recently. Old oil will dry and cause the moving parts to seize.

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

I have a singer touch tronic 2001 and material will not advance

The fabric does not advance... you need to observe the motion of the feed dogs (sawtooth strips of metal).

Turn machine on. Select a straight stitch with length 4 or 5. Then with foot lever up, manually rotate hand wheel and watch for feed dogs to raise up (above the needle plate) and move toward the rear and then lower (below needle plate), move toward the front of machine and then repeate the cycle for every stroke of the needle bar.

You may want to remove the needle plate for a better view of the feed dog movement and the rotary hook.

I suspect you will find either the feed dogs are not raising high enough or not moving at all.

Comment for further assistance.

My Singer 9910 buttonhole setting will only stitch 1/2 2 passes of the buttonhole & gets stuck at the top, just keeps stitching in the same spot at the top. I can't figure out what is wrong. Help

My guess... it's not reversing entirely. The machine controls fabric direction by changing feed dog height. Try manually moving feed dogs down then back up. See selector lower left front or consult manual.

If moving feed dogs doesn't correct the issue, remove hook, bobbin, and needle plate. Look for fabric debris, thread, and broken needles. Clear area with a vacuum

Singer touch tronic 2000 feed dog will not advance fabric

Confirm the feed dogs are raised. Make sure the feed dog teeth, area under the needle plate and the bobbin area are clean of any debris, thread, or buildup. Some machines also have a presser foot pressure adjustment that increases the pressure the presser foot applies to the feed dogs. The feed dogs could be worn (never run the sewing machine without fabric between the presser foot & feed dogs).

Or, the machine has not had a thorough cleaning and oiling recently and the feed dogs are sticking from old oil.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Feeddog singer stylist 776 how would the feeddog gt lowered

Consult the owner's manual. There should be instructions for how to darn with your machine. It would require either the feature that lowers/raises the feed dogs or a cover plate that attaches over the feed dogs.

If your machine came with the cover plate accessory, and the feed dogs are not rising to feed the fabric, then I suspect the machine has not been cleaned & oiled in quite some time and perhaps the feed dogs have seized. When you run the machine (remove the needle and presser foot), watch if the feed dogs actually drop below the needle plate, move toward the front of the machine, then rise above the needle plate and move toward the back of the machine. This is a repetitive motion that actually pulls the fabric through the machine. If this is not happening with your machine, it needs service.

Singer advance

Check the feed dogs are in the right spot, when they move they should be just above the needle plate. If they aren't then your feed dogs are disengaged and you need to push the button or leaver that re-engages them. If the feed dogs are in the right place then you may have the wrong presser foot on the machine and will need to change the presser foot to one with a slightly longer shank.

Does 514 pressure foot move?

what is the name of the machine?
do you want a manual?
the feed dogs are what move the fabric thru the machine, the presser foot only hold the fabric against the feed dogs so the feed dogs can move the fabric
the feed dogs in the needle plate area should be up

Just purchased a Singer Inspiration model 4205. Seems as if the feed dogs do not align properly with the holes in the needle plate causing the plate to move up and down as the feed dogs move.

Take it back where you bought and have them show you how to do it. Or, see is you can tighten the needle plate yourself, If, you can't call Singer (1-800-4singer) and find out where the authorized service center is. You should not have to pay anything with it being new. Good luck

Why would my Singer 6235 not feed the fabic:

h! there,
fabric moves forward when machine run due to movement of feed dogs, feed dog has a teeth, when your foot presser goes down attached to fabrics the pressure hold the fabric between pressure foot and feed dogs that why when machine run feed dogs pushed fabric when recieved stitch.try to check adjustment of feed dogs it maybe set at rest or neutral.reset it to upward towards needle.check also bobbins thread if accumulation was build up under feed dogs.regard and have a nice day.
