Singer machines were made in huge numbers. There are many different models. As you supplied no numbers, perhaps the following sites may assist in identification visually:
There is actually a visual guide to identifying singer machines and it is associated with craigslist. Unfortunately, I can not list it as it uses a word not accepted by the Fixya format. You might search for that yourself "visual guide to identifying singer machines". Meanwhile back at the ranch, here are sites of possible interest:
1990 - present. For sewing machines manufactured since about 1990, look for the model number on the handwheel side of the machine near the on/off switch or the electric cord receptacle.
1970 - 1989. You will find the model number on the front panel of machines manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s.
It's not likely you are going to find a manual for a vintage Singer. However, the older Singers didn't change a lot from one model to the next, so you should be able to find information on multiple web sites and videos that would be helpful.
There are tons of diagrams, web sites and videos about older Singer sewing machines. A lot of them are very similar, so finding information for one will most likely be beneficial.
Hi! I collect old Singers but don't recognize that model number....could it be a part number, possibly?
For information on old sewing machines, check out The International Sewing Machine Collector's Society webpage at http://www.ismacs.net/home.html. They also have a section devoted to Singers but you can actually call the company 1-800-4-Singer (Have the serial
number of your machine ready) (or for Singer Industrials, call 1.877.738.9869). You can also email Singer at [email protected].
Let me know what you find out about your machine, ok?
